08:12 PM | 049 Maintainment. Again. At this point, it's more of a chore. I've never seen him breach without it being facilitated by the Insurgency, and even then, the -2s are more of a problem than he is. Irritating more than scary. A foolish mindset, I know, he's dangerous no matter what, but it feels as though meaningless violence is beneath him. Eloquent if albeit disturbed. He wasn't requesting a D-Class either; he simply wanted a walk and to have tea with one Dr. Nano Filman. When the doctor had first asked, I'd hesitated. I didn't confirm nor deny the possibility, just asked him why, while asking Dr. Filman over communications. The Doctor stated he had enjoyed the last time they had tea, and simply wanted to do it again. Dr. Filman confirmed the interaction had happened and said I could tell him he'd be right there. When Filman began speaking with him, SSGT Cactus had to bring a Reality Anchor to Xi-8 on the surface, so we needed help from General Security to get the required number of combative personnel. Gabriel and 'Misanthrope' were the two who came to help, both of them Heavys. Not that it mattered, I had to leave soon after. Dr. Surge got captured by D-Class while in the break room. General Security was struggling in D-block. I felt guilty for requesting help afterwards, knowing that singular action may have been what allowed the prisoners to escape, and subsequently take Dr. Surge. The negotiation to bring him back was odd. A GENSEC was taking charge, was giving orders, and even initiating contact, yet an N7, 'DeathMark' I believe, took the situation over. Met the D-Class from another side, gave them the money, and took Roland all without saying anything to the GENSEC and those in comms, which made everything very confusing. Why would they feel the need to take over the situation if it wasn't requested? It left a poor taste in my mouth. Nu-7 seems overbearing.
08:36 PM | On the way back from D-Block, we saw the Head of Research, 'Legacy', and SGM 'Kyuubi' standing in front of a wooden door on a wall in the break room. It wasn't supposed to be there, and theres no room on the otherside of it, just more wall. HUME levels fluctuated, so it was certainly anomalous. We opted to open it just to see what would occur. I had suggested it be 'Kyuubi,' but 'Legacy' seemed to want to do it himself. When the door opened, there was an intense, blinding light behind it, and it was very clearly a portal. To what was the question. I advised against going inside and stated we should get a D-Class and put a rope on him. Everyone had agreed, until 'Ash' ran in. Irritating, an anomaly given special privleges it certainly needs revoked. Due to 'Ash' running it, 'Legacy' ran in as well, which is infuriating. A poorly armed, only slightly combative Level 5 storming into an unknown realm, no idea if it's safe or not, because the Xi-8 anomaly ran inside. I told him not to, I said it wasn't a good idea, but then he just ran through. What was I supposed to do? He's our Head of Research; I have to protect him. I followed after him, and it was awful. Going through the portal made me feel nauseous, and the area was desolate. Music started, and something was forcefully bringing up memories to the forefront of my mind. Good or not, something was in my head, and I hated it. We should've left right then and there, but 'Legacy' refused until 'Ash' had left. Once we convinced 'Ash' to leave, 'Legacy' tried to stay. I was enraged. Uncharacteristically so. I would expect this from an enlisted, from someone not in NTF, but a Level 5? The Head of Research? A member of the Site Command entrusted to enforce protocol? I called him out for it. I said how dangerous it was, how short sighted it was, how it was entirely against protocol. He laughed and said that I was new, so I didn't know. He said, word for word, "We don't really follow protocol here." I couldn't stop myself. It was childish, it was unbecoming, and I am ashamed of it, but I couldn't keep my mouth shut. I said, "Well, that'll be why this site is so awful at handling anomalies with so many affected all the time, then." He just stared at me for a long while, and I couldn't stop. I demanded he go back, I told him he can't just say 'you're welcome to leave' because its our job to make sure he is safe, that anyone involved in anomalous workings is safe. I told him to leave, and he relented, I suppose. Ordered 'Kyuubi' to take a photo of the tree, then left. After that, he made a few remarks about me taking control, and I felt so lost. The SGM should've taken control; I shouldn't have had to be the one to bring it up. I should be learning from these people, not having to teach and protect them. Is this why Father didn't want me to go to this site? Because it's a station that is beneath me? After multiple tests with the D-Class, 'Legacy' said it was proof that it was safe, and it's not exactly like we can argue with his ruling. He wasted no time going back inside, bringing the medic, 'Belial,' who he seems unreasonably close to, into the realm, alongside Ned Stark and 'Kyuubi.' I thought the medic was odd. Whining about not being able to go in, attached to 'Legacy' like a puppy. When they left, Belial was apparently in an awful state mentally, which 'Legacy' seemed familiar with. I question them. All of them. This place.
10:38 PM | 'Kyuubi' promoted me to PFC. I am not surprised. The initiative I took with the door seems to have impressed some. I half expected 'Legacy' to prevent my opportunities on account of my interaction with him during the situation. I was insubordinate and disrespectful; I hardly have the stomach to apologize to him from the shame of it.
10:46 PM | I saw Belial while passing through medbay. I felt compelled to speak with her, after all, the portal incident hadn't really been her fault. Whatever her connection with the HOR, I doubt she would've entered if he hadn't. In a way, her subsequent emotional turmoil was his doing. I pitied her, so I asked if she was okay. She seemed hesitant, but rehearsed when she told me she was fine and that it was nothing to worry about. It's not my place to pry, nor to try and understand her, but I didn't feel comfortable leaving it at that. I told her that if she found herself in need of an ear to listen to her woes, I'd be around. I hope that it's helpful, though it's not entirely out of a place of altruism. Those close to Level 5 should be watched.
10:48 PM | My favorite station at this point, I was at the EZ Checkpoint again. I overheard Dr. Surge chastising Alex Keyes, who had suggested trying to put watermelons into people's limbs for science. It was very confusing. I opted to ignore it. After a bit, Mick Rory and Dr. Surge kept me company within the Checkpoint. Mick Rory is a medical enlisted, the one who had nearly been captured the other day. We spoke plainly, and he seemed pleasant enough, albeit reserved. He said he had concerns with medical as a whole, that it felt disorganized. I couldn't disagree. The officers seem hesitant to act on certain things, though PW is always in the fray to help us with combatives that go down. Rory spoke highly of Sharps, so I'll take his word for it. Ned Stark is narcoleptic? Dr. Surge used to be a D-Class, and his doctorate comes from Archeology. Unique. I feel stronger in my belief that Alpha-1's placement here is unnatural and, therefore, due to something specific. Heightened presence at that, it used to just be the one. Now apparently its common place to see 2 or 3.
11:01 PM | I stationed myself at the Checkpoint between Entrance Zone and Light Containment Zone. I'm tired. It's been maintainments all day, and just standing around. This place doesn't seem nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be, albeit painfully boring. At least I had things to do to keep myself busy on [][]. This just feels lacking. Maybe that's why Father tried to fight my transfer. Not out of ego, but because he knew I can't make a name for myself here.
11:07 PM | Xi-8 Operative 'Silence' walked through. Doesn't shut doors behind him often. Detective 'Garmr' in GENSEC gear walked through. He was dragging NTF SGT Dr. Farnesworth. I notified Amnesia. She didn't seem surprised. 'Garmr' called WO 'Hush' not soon after. LT 'Inferno' passed through before 'Hush,' after 'Garmr.' Supervisor Larry D. passed through. First person to acknowledge me beyond flashing their ID. Black Bird passed through. I opened the doors for him, so he wouldn't have to jump. He seemed appreciative. Able passed through. 999 passed through. Detectives 'Destro' and 'Moth' passed through. 'Destro' doubled back. 'Moth' doubled back. 'Silence' doubled back. Shut the doors this time. God, this is boring. At least I'm doing something productive.
11:12 PM | Quite literally got shoved out of Checkpoint duty by 1SG 'Wraith.' Pushy woman. Not kind about it either, barely acknowledge me beyond the statement "I'm taking over." Is this site just impassive to its lower enlisted? Hardly a good thing, since lower enlisted seem to make majority of its combative force. Something I'll have to change in due time. How annoying to be pushed out of Checkpoint duty with nothing to maintain, nothing to check, because every other NTF has grabbed the chance to patrol like it's a lifeline.
11:32 PM | Quite a bit happened between the last entry and now. First of all, walking back through EZ not two minutes after I was pushed out, the mountainous creature of a woman wasn't even there anymore. Taking over a Checkpoint to simply abandon the duty? Had I not been at the door before the Checkpoint, a Scout could've easily made it into Light Containment with little to no resistance. Irritating. It was at this point in time I witnessed a Site Tech holding a gun to a Janitor in the small room Patchworks was allotted. I saved the footage from my Bodycam, reporting it to the ASD who was in the same hallway, so I wouldn't lose sight of the two. 'Prometheus' brought us to IA, in which I was going to be questioned, but A1 Operative 'Noose' requested me by name. I handed over the saved bodycam footage via uploading it to Detective 'Moth's contact, and excused myself. 'Node' told me to meet him in Medbay, and I did. He then led me to the long hall between Light Containment Zone Temporary Containment Cells and Heavy Containment Zone. To the left is a door, labeled 'Boston's Book Club.' Inside was a couch to the right, and two red cushioned chairs to the left. Two wooden bookshelves stood against the wall, the first thing you see when you walk in. A small table sat between the chairs, and in all honesty, the room was uniquely cozy. 'Noose' requested my name and rank, then informed me I would be answering his questions. After what I believe to be control questions, he informed me he would know if I was lying, and asked me more personal ones. Loyalty ones. When I answered the first one, I felt my throat constrict somewhat, as his fingers tapped against his weapon. I was not lying, which is why I presume I am still breathing. The feeling left as he asked the next question and never returned. A Thaumaturgist, perhaps? I don't believe it was psychosemantic. At the end, he spoke to me more plainly.
"The Foundation is a Behemoth."
"Many are considered collateral damage. Expect yourself to be collateral one day."
He isn't wrong, I'm aware. For much of my career here, I will simply be a body to take bullets and damage to protect the integrity and stability of this place. Such is the glory of working within the Foundation. Collateral can make all the difference, and that is what I intend to do. Collateral or not, I will make a name for myself. I will become something. My own legacy. Either way, for A1 to do questioning like this makes me raise an eyebrow. It's not standard for A1 to do so. Boredom, or necessity?
11:44 PM | Patchworks had a baggie of Cocaine in Medical Bay. Assistant Site Director seemed frazzled, trying to get the baggie away from him. I stepped in, kneeling to Patchworks' height and offered a trade. A box of crayons, and the choice to color anywhere he wanted in EZ, in exchange for the baggie. He accepted, as he would, and took the crayons. I'll have to buy a new one for maintainment of SCP-1048 soon, since that was the only one I had. Well used, I would say. He chose to color at the table infront of the Television in Entrance Zone. He drew a pleasant image of himself healing a child for his first drawing, after which Supervisor Larry D. and ASD 'Prometheus' approached with SCP-999. As Patchworks drew another piece of him and the child playing, I gave 999 a Snickers bar I had earlier. My shift was ending soon, and I could get real food, so I saw no reason to keep it for myself. Winning favor and rapport is good, and using any means to get it even better. Patchworks then drew an image of him, Prometheus, and I, saving the world. Touching. We complimented it, and him, and then 'Prometheus' asked me if I was Dutch. He said He could tell from my last name, as he did a study on a French-Canadian poet with the last name De Vries. He comes from wealth, I've surmised. The kind that molded him, as opposed to making him retaliatory. He spoke with me some more, and I showed off a bit, though I think it worked to my favor. When Prometheus became engrossed in a conversation with an MT named 'Mick Ross' while Able and 049 spoke, I knelt back down to Patchworks. He drew art of a child, saddened, and sick, even though he was present. I assumed it was him drawing a child he in fact could not save. Curious. I comforted him. I told him that those we lose are always hard, but those we save help remind us that it is always worth it. That keeping the memory of them alive is just as powerful. A raid was called, and I had to move Patchworks to his little room, though I saved his drawings in his filing cabinet. I was missing the one with us saving the world. I think Prometheus kept that one. Unique, considering his emotional disposition. More sentimental than he lets on, perhaps?
09:41 PM | Shift was quiet til now. Xi-8 and Site Command had a test they were preforming, called forall of Epsilon-11. Half the site was up there. They were attempting to remove the Sarkic Portal. I watched from the ridge, and it was confusing. They condensed EVE in a singular area, forming it, and then it got smaller. Dissipated. I noticed something odd and started counting my footsteps, walking toward the road. Typically, when you walk in the snow, you leave an imprint. Even if it's icy, there's some sign that you stood there. Yet every couple of steps or so, I suddenly couldn't interact with the snow. I could feel the sensation of my boot sinking into it, I could hear the snow crunch, yet there was no trace of it ever occurring. Like I couldn't interact with it. I tried to notify the command, but no one seemed to care beyond Ned Stark. A shocker, considering he isn't the sharpest Operative in the unit. 'Amnesia' completely dismissed it, said she didn't think it was related. I hope she just didn't understand what I was saying. I think it's because I was enlisted, which in of itself is a problem, but one I can understand. I haven't proven myself yet. Before, my familial relations would've forced her to at least report what I said. It's refreshing to be dismissed like all other enlisted. Albeit enraging.
09:51 PM | Private Second Class 'Eiry' asked me about it. They were promoted alongside me yesterday. They seemed to agree with me, as did Stark. A terrifying fate when the friendfire-prone simpleton has more sense than command. Though I have to admit, he has an almost endearing personality. Very dedicated to fixing problems. I mentioned the situation with Crow yesterday, both 'Eiry' and Stark were surprised, saying I should've gone to command. I was confused, since Stark was there. He stated he had a poor memory. I believe him.
10:10 PM | They condensed the EVE again. It didn't do anything. The rest of the test was useless. I'm not sure what they're doing. I want to learn more.
10:56 PM | There was a raid. They won and lost. They got a hack off, but most of their forces died. I wonder what was so worth it?
10:10 PM | 049 Maintainment. Coyote Stark was there first, played 049 Phonk. It seemed to enjoy it. 049 Maintainment doesn't seem very difficult. LCPL 'Crow' asked about an anomaly, when I answered, he and another insulted me. I replied in kind, yet I was called the disrespectful one. The D-Class being used for 049s maintainment fist fought 049. He did not win. The resulting zombie from the lost fight escaped for a moment. Ned Stark injured a researcher in crossfire.
10:24 PM | Coyote Stark expressed his interest in the 'Baroness,' inquiring if she was single. I reported him to Internal Affairs, as did Lieutenant 'Inferno.' Internal Affairs Detective 'Garmr' also wears General Security gear when the site is in need of combative units. Impressive. I overheard Supervisor Larry D and Medical CR 'Paragon' discussing the ethics of telling a clone they are a clone, and if that was ethical.
10:28 PM | SCP-4157 does not like Staff Sergeant Jack Cactus.
10:34 PM | 049 Maintainment again. The D-Class seemed to engage in conversation with 049. Ned Stark is not here; the researcher is safe.
10:50 PM | Xi-8 asks about the whereabouts of the 'Duke' over Foundation comms. Someone states he was last seen being chased by 'Dionysus,' an A1 stationed on site. 'The Duke' was described as a shadow man wearing a black suit, with orange eyes.
11:08 PM | Greed and Gluttony maintainment. I took lead. Gluttony went to the cafeteria, while I stayed with Greed and his donation box for the garden. It is, in fact, not for the garden, but for him.
11:09 PM | A scout is captured. Nu-7 Lieutenant Tokyo was trying to get access into IA bunks, but was being denied. They went to the Assistant Site Director, 'Druid', to get access.
11:11 PM | Gluttony Is afraid of bees.
11:20 PM | Glorp tried to fly, fled to EZ, and went invisible.
11:23 PM | Saw a Sarkic knight. Accompanied Researcher Roland to keep him safe. I watched it cut down three operatives. I was the fourth, but Medical Officer PW saved my life. Three times.
11:37 PM | The Sarkic Knight was a blessed mimic, courtesy of 'The Duke.' It was dispatched by joint Foundation and Chaos Insurgency forces on our surface.
11:51 PM | Code Den is called by Lieutenant Inferno. Coyote was late.
11:55 PM | I was promoted to Private Second Class. Coyote was promoted to Private First Class. Roland was promoted to Private First Class. Crow was promoted to Corporal. Eiry was promoted to Private Second Class. Coyote congratulated me, even though I reported him, stating he didn't hold a grudge, but he wanted me to know he was just joking, and was not attracted to the Baroness. I do not believe him.
12:00 AM | Saw Head of Research 'Legacy.' His throat is slit. He asked how I was adjusting. When I said I was previously a part of the Department of External Affairs, he said he'd rather die. He does not enjoy being called 'sir' nor being saluted. I struggle to not do this. I left quickly after that.
12:03 AM | Medic 'Belial' walked into the front desk area of Medbay, demanding to know which General Security called them a drug addict. They then proceeded to leave because 3 people were talking, and it was apparently 'Too loud.'
12:04 AM | General Security Private First Class Komi Iiko is harassed by 2nd Lt Hedge, a gun held on her, told to put her hands up, etc, for no reason, with no outcome. I offered to be a witness for her. She denied it, stating it might encourage him to do it again. I will respect her wishes, but I do not agree with them.
12:09 AM | Internal Affairs Detective 'Destro' and Assistant Site Director 'Druid' enjoy using the cap and being invisible. It seems odd to utilize an anomaly so much. I asked Timmy Tarts what happened, as he was on crutches. He replied, "Don't let a god try and show you their ID. It was, in fact, NOT an ID." He further clarified that Concord demanded Timmy look at his ID, then threw a grenade at his legs. I wished him a speedy recovery.
12:24 AM | 049 Maintainment. Targeted by the zombie. Won.
12:28 AM | Lieutenant Inferno wished to speak with me. He sat on a bench in EZ. I stood beside him at attention. He asked about where I came from, my history. He said he didnt request to come to this site, but instead got transferred here from Site-27. He excelled in research, which is what got him sent here, as Site-66s research division is lacking. He focuses on weaponry research and has already begun to develop a new kind of Arc Star. I met 2nd Lieutenant 'Hedge' again, and he was polite. He was bleeding from his head profusely and called it a complication from torture sustained by the Chaos Insurgency. It is unfortunate. He seemed unreasonably interested in my past. I do not wish to explain it to him. Not being known for my father is a blessing in this place. I wish for it to stay that way. Assistant Site Director 'Prometheus' does not do physical contact. He speaks properly, but seems to be rude without intending to be. Dismissive. Hedge got a Medal of Valor for what occurred at the hands of the Insurgency from MTF Commander Universe. Perhaps I should befriend him more.
