Bold Conference 2022
Bold Conference 2022
Hello everyone,
This week I was in Kansas City, in the same area I was in last week. It was kind of strange going right back. We where in Missouri, then we left Missouri and went home to get on a bus that was headed right back to Missouri. Anyways, here is a day by day account of everything we did on the trip.
Day One:
Today we drove to Olivet Nazarene University and spent the night in their dorms. We also spent time in their amazing rec. center that included a pool, the second largest rock wall on a collage campus, and a game room with foosball, ski ball, pingpong, and shuffle board. Then we spent some time in groups discussing our goals for the days ahead.
Day Two:
Today we drove to Kansas City and arrived at Bold Conference and to be honest it was scary walking in. Two thousand kids from around the United States where standing outside and they just opened the doors and it was a free for all for seats. Kids were stampeding for seats in the front, music was pounding in the background, and this huge timer glared on the main screen slowly counting down to the start of worship. It felt like a concert. I've never been to a concert, but it's what I'd imagine it would be like. There were smoke machines that set the fire alarm's lights off for most of the service. Then there was a crowd of kids worshiping in the front. I never went up there because, yeah, I didn't want to get bruised. At one point they were body surfing someone while they chanted, "We believe in Jesus Christ." It was quite amazing what the mosh pit was able to accomplish. Eventually I did get some ear plugs and everything was good. The message was really good. The singers were amazing. I can't wait for tomorrow.
Day Three:
Today was really tiring. We woke up, ate breakfast, had a service, ate lunch, had a service, ate dinner, had a service, and went to bed. There was no time to process the sermons and tomorrow is going to be the same thing. Lyle Phillips preached today and it was amazing. One thing he said was pray scary prayers. When he became a Christian he began reading through the Bible. He reached Exodus 33 where God showed himself too Moses. Lyle, after reading this passage, prayed, "God I want to see you". Lyle felt afraid after he prayed. What if God actually showed up. He said he would spend hours praying just wondering what would happen. At hour four does He show up? At hour five does God reveal himself?
Another one of my favorite speaker was Dawson Perkins. He was super passionate. If you thought you had faith just listen to this guy talk for five minutes and you'll realize there's a lot more to being a Christian than just believing. Another great thing about Bold was not only the spirit filled speakers but the 2,000 teens from around the U.S. Kanas City is near the center of America and you can go just about anywhere in 8 hours, so it was the perfect location. After services were over, we'd walk to our bus and passed by so many different license plates from all over the country. There was even an eighteen-year-old speaker that flew in from Hawaii!
Day Four:
Today was the last day of Bold Conference. The end service was amazing. There where so many famous singers and some really, amazing songs. My favorite was Praying All Night. Listening to the song digitally does not even compare to the glory of singing it live with 2,000 kids jumping up and down, screaming at the top of their lungs, while confetti is being shot off, and smoke machines go off. I wish everyone had this opportunity. When we walked out today everyone walked out changed. I don't know how to explain it but you could just tell. I know I was changed.
How? Why? Well today, during worship, God told one of my leaders to pray for me and while they were praying God touched me and instead of giving me a glimpse of His love like I normally saw, He touched me and filled me with his love. I couldn't control myself, I just cried with joy. I know it sounds weird and I didn't want to share this, but God touched me and filled me. I'm hungry for God now. I want to know Him. I just want God.
Day Five:
Tired. Today we woke up at six in the morning and drove to Six Flags. It was so hot, I never left the pool. I still managed to have fun and finally had time relax after three crazy days of awesome worship. When we got back to our hotel tonight, we split up into groups and prayed and praised God in the parking lot. We didn't go to bed till one in the morning!
Day Six:
Today we drove home and arrived an hour earlier than we expected which was nice. I'm glad to be home but I wished Bold could come home with me and become my church.
I surveyed some students who had never been to Bold before and basically asked them what they thought. Here are some of the responses:
Anyways, I hope everyone reading this gets this far I know this was a longer blog than usual and I hope it meant something to you.
Talk to you soon,
