The Good Samaritan
Hello everyone,
This past Friday was my schools spring musical, it was called, The Not so Terrible Parable. The musical was a play of The good Samaritan (Luke 10). The play takes place in the nineteen thirties. It's also a spoof off of clue, except, instead of trying to figure out who robbed the poor injured man, we're trying to figure out who rescued him. I, of course, played the part of one of the men that left him on the side of the road. My music teacher kept telling me to be mean and act the complete opposite of who I am when I'm on stage, but deep down we all have, at one point in our lives, left someone we don't know or even a friend on the side of the road.
It's one thing to be mean on stage and teach a valuable lesson. However it's another thing to be mean off stage and set a great example of what not to do. It takes a lot of guts to admit you are wrong, but in the end it's for the best. We all make mistakes, even big ones, like leaving someone to die, but we should at least try to do right, not because the law says so, but because Jesus showed us mercy.
I hope everyone who saw the play learned something, I know I did. This week go out and try your best to help a stranger in need. I know I'm just a kid, and I can't help like most adults can, but I can still compliment a classmate or pray for the people I see on the side of the road. No act of kindness is too small. I learned that from my school's latest fundraiser, Raise Craze, where we tried to see who could do the most acts of kindness and who could raise the most money.
Talk to you soon,
Abigail Sandison
