Dedication
Happy Birthday Grandma. I wish you where here.
As many of you may know, my grandma passed away last October and this is the first time we will be celebrating her birthday without her. I have decided to dedicate this book to my grandma, Elaine Finkel, or as I like to call her Grandma Petre. She was not only my biggest support, but the lady I wrote most of my devotionals for. She was one of the people that helped me find God's hand and supported me through rough times.
When I published my book it was a very bitter sweet moment. I really wanted my Grandma here to share in this, but I knew it was impossible. I was acting very selfish. I want her here but it wouldn't be fair to her.
Let us pray. Dear God, thank you for all the amazing people you have put in my life to guide me and help me. Lord, when we lose friends, loved ones, and mentors, help us remember they are in a better place. Fill the void they left, and, if it is your will, take away this selfishness. Lord, we want them here but we know it isn't your will. I am sorry for all the sins I might have committed in the process of grieving. Lord, take these sins away. Thank you for the time you gave us with them, Amen.
If you did not know, last Friday I got to read my hero essay in front of the whole school. Mine was about my grandma and all the support and encouragement she gave me with my book. It was such a blessing to have the opportunity to share my feeling with so many people. Afterwards many people came up to me and said they where going through the same thing which made me feel a lot better.
