# Privacy Policy for Device Toolkit
Last updated: April 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Yax Technologies ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Device Toolkit mobile application (the "App").
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or the App's data practices, contact us at yaxtechnologies@gmail.com.
## 1. Overview
Device Toolkit is primarily an on-device utility app. Most diagnostics, storage analysis, installed-app inspection, and hardware tests are performed locally on your device.
Based on the current version of the App, we do not operate our own backend service for Device Toolkit and we do not upload your file contents, installed-app inventory, or device diagnostics to our own servers. However, the App includes third-party advertising services from Google Mobile Ads / AdMob, and those services may collect or receive data under Google's own policies.
## 2. Information We Access or Process
Depending on which features you use and which permissions you grant, the App may access or process the following categories of information:
### A. Device and System Information
The App may access technical information about your device, such as:
- device manufacturer, model, brand, hardware, board, product, and build information;
- Android version, API level, security patch level, app version, and build number;
- battery, memory, storage, CPU, display, and network status information;
- Android ID, device serial number, build fingerprint, and network interface details;
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IP, gateway, DNS, BSSID, carrier, and related connection details where available from the operating system.
This information is used to show diagnostic and device information screens inside the App.
### B. Installed App Information
The App may access information about apps installed on your device, including:
- app name, package name, version, install date, update date, size, and icon;
- whether an app is a system app;
- app permissions and certificate details for app detail screens;
- limited recent app usage events where Android usage access is available and permitted.
This information is used to show the installed-app inventory, app detail screens, and certain memory or running-app views.
### C. File and Storage Information
If you grant storage or full file management access, the App may scan shared device storage and process information such as:
- file and folder names;
- file paths;
- file sizes;
- modification timestamps;
- file categories;
- folder contents;
- file hashes generated locally for duplicate detection.
This information is used to identify recent files, large files, duplicate files, and other storage-management results. File scanning and duplicate analysis are performed locally on your device.
### D. Sensor and Hardware Test Information
When you use hardware test features, the App may access or process:
- proximity sensor readings;
- ambient light sensor readings;
- volume-key test input;
- flashlight / torch controls;
- vibration capability and vibration actions;
- audio test state and audio routing controls.
The flashlight test uses camera/flash hardware control only to turn the torch on or off. The App does not capture photos or record video as part of that feature.
### E. Notifications and Local Settings
The App may store or process:
- your theme preference;
- whether you dismissed certain in-app prompts;
- whether local reminder notifications are enabled;
- a local marker used to manage ad behavior on first launch;
- locally scheduled reminder notifications.
These items are stored locally on your device.
### F. Communications You Choose to Send
If you choose to send feedback by email, the App opens your email client with a prefilled recipient and subject line. Any information you include in that email, such as your name, email address, and message content, is processed by your email provider and any services you choose to use.
### G. Advertising-Related Data
The App uses Google Mobile Ads / AdMob to display ads. Google and its partners may collect or receive information from your device and the App for ad delivery, fraud prevention, measurement, and related purposes. This may include identifiers, IP address, device and app information, diagnostic information, and ad interaction data, subject to Google's own privacy terms and settings.
## 3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- provide device, battery, storage, memory, network, display, CPU, and app diagnostic features;
- scan, categorize, and manage files locally at your direction;
- open, share, rename, or delete files only when you trigger those actions;
- display installed apps and app details;
- run hardware and sensor tests that you choose to use;
- save your preferences and local App state;
- schedule local reminder notifications if you grant notification permission;
- display ads and support the App through Google Mobile Ads / AdMob;
- let you contact us through your email app if you choose to send feedback.
## 4. Permissions and Device Access
Depending on your device and Android version, the App may request or rely on access to:
- storage or full file management access, to scan and manage files;
- installed-app visibility, to show installed-app information;
- Android usage access, where available, to improve certain app activity views;
- notification permission, to schedule reminder notifications;
- camera / flash hardware access, only for flashlight testing;
- network state and internet access, for network information features and advertising;
- vibration and audio control access, for device test features;
- the ability to open system settings, Play Store listings, and installed apps at your request.
You can deny or revoke permissions at any time in your device settings, but some features may stop working or become limited.
## 5. When We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share or allow access to information only in the following circumstances:
- with Google Mobile Ads / AdMob and related Google services for ad serving, measurement, fraud prevention, and related advertising functions;
- with your chosen email provider or email app when you send feedback;
- with apps or services you choose when you share or open a file;
- with the operating system or platform services when you open app settings, Play Store pages, files, or other system destinations;
- if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
## 6. Data Retention
We retain information as follows:
- local settings and local state remain on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App;
- storage scan results, app detail data, and similar runtime data are generally kept locally in memory during use and refreshed or discarded as the App session changes;
- locally scheduled notifications remain until they are delivered, canceled, permissions are revoked, app data is cleared, or the App is uninstalled;
- information you send through email is retained according to your email provider's policies;
- advertising-related data handled by Google is retained according to Google's policies.
## 7. Data Security
We rely primarily on local processing, operating-system sandboxing, permission controls, and platform security features to protect information handled by the App. No method of storage, transmission, or electronic processing is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
## 8. Your Choices
You can:
- refuse or revoke permissions in your device settings;
- stop using storage features by not granting storage access;
- turn notifications off in your device settings;
- clear the App's data or uninstall the App to remove locally stored settings and local state;
- manage certain Google advertising preferences through your Google account and device ad settings.
The App does not require account creation.
## 9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through our own backend services.
