WHAT IS OUR GOAL?
develAPP hopes to promote technology education and app development for all children across the country regardless of their socioeconomic background
We host free app development workshops every winter, spring, and summer for all kids aged 9-16! We also hold other events throughout the year, like webinars and hackathons, which can all be accessed virtually.
Our Impact So Far
Over the summer of 2022 and spring of 2023, we conducted 4 separate workshops that taught students app development and coding through various platforms such as XCode, Android Studio, ThunkableX, and Code.Org.
Through our virtual workshops, we served over 95 kids every week from the DMV area and got to see apps come to life!
Check out a few apps developed in our workshops this past summer below!

As mobile technology progresses in the 21st century, the rate of education in this field is not. Most students are not exposed to app development or tech education until secondary school or higher. Moreover, those who are interested often can't find free and accessible resources to spark their passion.
A few statistics:
Across 37 states, only 4.7% of high school students are enrolled in foundational computer science
Rural schools and urban schools continue to be less likely to offer computer science-related courses
Only around half of the high schools in the United States offer a basic computer science class
According to a 2021 study done by the Code.org Advocacy Coalition, the Computer Science Teachers Association, and the Expanding Computing Education Pathways Alliance
