I am a Senior Research Economist at De Nederlandsche Bank and a guest researcher at the University of Amsterdam. I have a Ph.D. in economics from the Johns Hopkins University. I am a macroeconomist. My main research areas are (1) inflation and price setting and (2) credit constraints and the macro-economy. I address macroeconomic questions using both macro- and micro-data, and both time series and panel data techniques. Much of my work empirically tests implications from economic theory.
My research addresses questions such as:
What causes inflation to respond more or less strongly to aggregate demand fluctuations?
How does the response of monetary policy to inflationary supply shocks affect our ability to estimate the relation between inflation and output?
Does the extent to which firms are uncertain about their future earnings have a major effect on business cycles?
Does the economy respond differently to changes in households' ability to borrow when firms are limited in their borrowing too?
Do capital flows from one eurozone country to another have substantially larger effects on aggregate output than other international capital flows?
