Mitchell Batchelder (he/him)

Mitch is a union organizer for the American Federation of Teachers and is passionate about working in solidarity alongside working families in Michigan fighting for higher wages, better benefits, and respect in their workplaces. He has spent his career supporting workers in the fight for racial and economic justice in their workplaces as labor activist, gaining experiences in areas such as union organizing, community organizing, and union contract negotiations and enforcement. While he is an organizer by day, he also enjoys baking, reading, and going on long walks with his dog and partner.

Q: What is something you love about where you live?

A: I love the deep sense of solidarity that there is amongst community members in Detroit. There are so many organizations and organizers doing great work and it’s a privilege to get to learn from their examples.
