Senior Director, Stakeholder Engagement, Racial Justice and Economic Equity

Marnita S. Harris is Senior Director, Stakeholder Engagement, Racial Justice and Economic Equity at the Detroit Regional Chamber. In this role, Harris leads stakeholder engagement for the Chamber's Racial Justice and Economic Equity initiatives and supports the CEO with communications, reporting and project follow up. She is also responsible for executing fundraising and investor engagement for with a portfolio of over 100 members.

Harris joined the Chamber in 1993 and worked on the Chamber’s workforce and education efforts, where she led job placement for adults and high school students and supported efforts to raise funds for education programs. Her additional responsibilities have included providing oversight for administrative staff in support of community and government programs and supporting the efforts to shape policy for business. She also handled program logistics for Leadership Detroit and the Mackinac Policy Conference.

Harris is a lifelong Detroiter, graduate of Detroit Public Schools and is certified in project management and advanced leadership. She has won several leadership awards, as well as one for diversity from the Birmingham Bloomfield Diversity Taskforce. She is a graduate of the New Detroit Multicultural Leadership program, is a Leadership Detroit Class XXXVI alumna, serves on a youth program board, and served on the board of the MacDowell Preparatory Academy for three years. Harris is a member of Women United of the United Way of Southeast Michigan and has taught sign singing and dance at local churches and community centers.
