Alena Farooq

Alena Farooq is the Manager of the Detroit Financial Well-Being Innovation Challenge at United Way for Southeastern Michigan and loves helping people access the tools and resources needed to realize their dreams, follow their unique passions, and become the version of themselves that they want to be. She has spent the majority of her career in the nonprofit industry, gaining experiences in areas such as fundraising, project management, and communications. While grantmaking is her primary job function by day, Alena also enjoys traveling and cooking dishes that fuse the cultures that make her who she is.

A: I love the vibrant food cultures that surround me! Our region is full of flavors and traditions from all over the world (that tend to inspire my travel plans).
