Sirrita Darby is a social justice educator, a millennial, a revolutionist and self-proclaimed dream-manifestor. She has taught for the past five years in the heart of Detroit.

Sirrita is an award-winning educator, accepting awards like The Early Career Educator Leadership Award from National Association for Teachers in English as well as The Excellence in Education Award from The Michigan State Lottery. She is a current doctoral student at Michigan State University where her research focuses on the shared trauma among African-American teachers teaching in urban districts.

Sirrita founded Detroit Heals Detroit alongside her students to foster healing justice for Detroit youth in which they are able to transform their pain into power. With a goal to combat trauma, they use healing centered engagement to share their greatest vulnerabilities with the rest of the world while simultaneously working to dismantle oppressive systems for marginalized Detroit youth.
