Innovative Technologies Program Manager, ENGAGE Initiative

Fatima Salman is the Program Manager for the Employment Equity Learning and Action Collaborative run by the University of Michigan, School of Social Work as well as the Project and Tech Manager for U of M SSW's ENGAGE team.

She loves helping and empowering people and especially working towards the betterment of Detroiters with a racial equity lens. She has spent the majority of her career as a community organizer in Michigan and has done work within her own Muslim American community regionally and nationally.

While social work and community organizing is her primary function by day, Fatima also enjoys participating in youth work, mentoring, and youth development. She is also a foodie, always searching for the next best local restaurant to support and enjoy!

Q: What is something you love about where you live?

A: I LOVE that in Michigan we are able to celebrate, get to know, and learn from people with all sorts of ethnicities, religions, and backgrounds. We can eat the food of one another and learn the customs of each other all while working on issues of social justice together.
