Instructor introduction
Hello everyone. I’m Supornphan Konchiab, or you just call me “Ajarn Tu”. In Thailand, Ajarn refers to “Teacher” or “Lecturer”. I’m your Design Thinking facilitator in this project. Since 2016, I have experiences facilitating Design Thinking process for many social innovation projects. I’ve worked with multidisciplinary team of teachers and students from Thailand, Singapore, Japan, and Malaysia. I also teach Design Thinking in the Seminar class. In addition, I conducted the research using design thinking as the learning tools to improve students’ twenty-first century skills. So, I am looking forward to working and learning with you.
Unit course outline
This unit will focus on “Interview” as an important tool in the Empathy stage. Significances of interview will be discussed. Interview timeline, questioning techniques, and interview structure will be introduced. Following this, roles of interviewers, notetakers, and observers will be compared. Finally, ethics and etiquettes of interview will be discussed in relations to culture of local community.
Unit course characteristics
In this unit, students will learn about the important roles of interview as a tool to gain empathy in the community. They will also learn about interview techniques, including recommended timeline, types of interview questions, and interview structure. In addition, they will compare the three roles in the interview, namely interviewers, notetakers, and observers. Finally, they will be able to compare dos and don’ts when interviewing the local community in Thailand and Taiwan.
Unit course objectives
1. Understanding the significance and process of interview in DT
2. Identifying the structure of the interview and their roles in the interview.
3. Designing and organizing different types questions for the interview, in relation to timeline and ethics and etiquettes.
