Instructor introduction
My academic specialty is on Social Theories, Justice and Inequality, Globalization, Political Sociology, Sociology of Law, and Animal Ethics. I am also the adviser of a student club on stray dog rescue and lead them to the practices of the animal protection, the education of community children, the renovation of community old houses, and the enhancement of the solidarity of the community. I am also the member of USR (University Social Responsibility) Project for 3 years.
Unit course outline
This section is the first section of the course. It will provide the students the overall understanding of the ‘Slow City Movement.’ The ‘Slow City Movement’, like other social movements, provides social innovation and reform to the problem of our society. Especially, it focuses on the collapse of humanity in global scale and the detriment of the possibility of our good life. In this context, the ‘Slow City Movement’ is a critique as well as a solution to the given crisis of modern society. This section tries to explore these issues of globalized capitalist society and shows how ‘Slow City Movement’ deals with it.
