Issue:
Older users need to propelling manual wheelchairs requires significant upper body strength and can lead to fatigue, especially over long distances or rough terrain.
Design:
an electric, compact, semi-autonomous
wheelchair to speed up travel time
autonomus travel for wheelchairs
The time taken to figure out where to go and how to get there.
Takes a long time to get to where you want to go and figure out the correct direction.
Requires upper body exertion especially for those of older age
Dirty hands and blisters
i envision the wheelchair as a smaller wheelchair that would semi-autonomously
take the person to their desired location, without the need to physically move and self charges on campuses and malls.
A futuristic vision
We sought to accentuate the semi-autonomous function of MOV by embodying optimized disassembly, fewer parts, manufactured by 100% renewable energy, made with 1/3 of secondary raw materials with a lower carbon footprint.
Functional Features
MOV is a physical system, integrated with features to enhance efficiency of the delivery process
Self balancing technology
recessed front headlights
sensors to detect and avoid potential collisions
a-pillar embedded cameras for semi-autonomy
Mobile phone docking station
obstacle avoidance
3 wheels for 360 degree direction
tail light embedded cameras for semi-autonomy
MOV at Work
The functionality of MOV covers all steps of the process
Charges at station until use then unplug device to be used.
Unplug device when ready to be used in parking lot.
a person can connect to bluetooth
an optimized GPS route is synced using Google or apple maps loaded.
