Expanding on our mission to cultivate a place for education and studying for the students at MiraCosta Community College, we are excited to present a comprehensive compilation of data gathered from our project's development.
From initial concept sketches to multiple timeline data, we have organized this information to be showcased here. As we invite you to explore our findings, we hope to offer a glimpse into the collaborative efforts, creative vision, and unwavering commitment embeodied by the Design Department students. Project Title: Design Deck MiraCosta
Project Start: February 13th, 2024 Projected Finish Date: May 24th, 2024
Budget Information: Our goal is $1,800+. Might change during construction.
Project Manager: Karl Drews
Project Objectives: Money raised through fundraiser ($1,800+). The deck will be built by DESN 105 class using sustainable materials such as wood and plants. Deck will be completed by 05/24/24 and ready to be enjoyed and used by MiraCosta students. The deck needs to be within a reasonable budget while also conveying the design.
Success Criteria: Reach our financial goal or find a sponsor to fund the project. Strong communication of phases between BUS 133 & Construction Materials class.
Approach: Create charts such as charter, scope, and gantt. Establish roles and responsibilities. Ask around local businesses for sponsorship. If not, ask if we can set up a fundraising booth in front of the establishment. Pre-cut lumber the week before so the Construction management team can execute effectively. Supervise as leads during the construction process.

Project Justification: A comfortable lounge deck for students to study, relax, and socialize with a focus on sustainability in design. A structure that represents the design department at MiraCosta Community College Oceanside campus.
Product Characteristics & Requirements:
Structure will be completely built with reusable materials.
Solar powered.
Wheelchair accessibility.
Chairs and tables
Power outlets.
Product User Acceptance Criteria: The ADA accessible deck and surrounding area is projected to be a comfortable and stable oasis, accessible; sustainable; art/study; (ADA wheelchair ramp req. Width 36”min with the rise to be 1:12)
