Desert Sky Outdoor School is a play-based co-op located in Tempe, Arizona.
For children 2-8 yrs and their caregivers.
We are a highly collaborative group of caregivers who believe that children (even very young children) are instinctual, curious, and supremely capable learners. They grow their understanding of the world through play and making connections with those around them in their own unique ways and in their own good time.
We work together to nurture children's instinctual drive to learn by providing the environment, the space and the pace they require to thrive.
Desert Sky is a true cooperative, where decision-making is shared by all participating members. Each semester, families meet to discuss new ideas and current challenges from the group at large, keeping the needs of the kids at the forefront of any schedule change or offering that we make. Upcoming Semester: Fall 2026 September-December
Meeting: Tuesdays & Thursdays 9am-12 pm
(Registration Fees include all classes, snack & supplies)
1 day each week = $40 per month
2 days each week = $80 per month
Must be accompanied by a caregiver 18 yrs or older
Interested parties should fill out our interest form and will be contacted to schedule trial visits.

Rhythm of the Day (3 hrs)
Each session, our play & learning will include songs, stories and free explorations in our outdoor environment, along with group learning taught by passionate and knowledgable caregivers.

9:30-10:00 Free Play
10:00-10:15 Snack
10:20-11:00 Circle (Social learning time for all ages)
11:00-11:30 Free Play/Lunch
11:30-12:00 Science (Ages 4+)
12:00 Clean Up & Closing Circle

Desert Sky Outdoor Co-op is seeking to:
Create a space for young children to experience high quality play and learning with their peers in a stimulating outdoor environment.
Collaborate with families who are choosing to educate their young children at home, but are looking for a supportive network of parent partners for themselves, and playmates for their children.
