Privacy Policy

Your videos never leave your phone.

1. In short

Your videos, audio and transcripts never leave your device. All processing happens on your iPhone.
There is no account. No sign-up, no email, no password.
The only things collected are an anonymous device identifier and crash logs — used to fix bugs, nothing else.
Nothing is sold, shared or used for advertising. There is no tracking across other apps or websites.

That is genuinely the whole story. The sections below just say it more precisely.

2. Who I am

Descripted is an independent iOS app built and operated by Gurbeer Kaur, an individual developer based in India.

There is no company, no team and no third-party analytics business behind this app. Questions go directly to me at gurjaishrat@gmail.com.

3. What is collected

Anonymous device identifier

Distinguishing one install from another so crash reports can be grouped. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID.

Crash logs and diagnostic traces

Finding and fixing the bug that crashed the app. Includes device model, iOS version, app version and the technical stack trace.

That is the complete list. Both are processed through Apple's own crash reporting, which you can disable at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. Turning it off does not affect the app.

4. What is not collected

To be unambiguous, Descripted does not collect, transmit or store:

Your videos, audio recordings, transcripts, captions or exports
Your name, email address, phone number or any account details
Your location, contacts, calendar, photos or health data
Any advertising identifier — there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because there is no tracking
Any behavioural or usage profile

NO SALE, NO SHARING, NO ADS

I do not sell personal data, share it for advertising, or provide it to data brokers. I never have and the app is not built to.

5. Your videos and audio

This is the part that matters most in a video app, so it gets its own section.

Everything stays on your iPhone. When you record or import a file, Descripted processes it locally — transcription, editing, filler-word removal, captions and export all run on-device using local audio and an on-device speech model.

No file is uploaded to a server. There is no cloud account, no backup service, and no third-party AI provider receiving your content.

WHAT THIS MEANS PRACTICALLY

If you delete a project, it is gone from your device and there is no copy anywhere else. Keep your own backups of source footage — I cannot recover anything for you, because I never had it.

Files you export are saved wherever you choose — your photo library, Files, or another app via the share sheet. Once shared with another app or platform, that service's own privacy policy applies.

6. Apple and payments

Descripted is distributed through the App Store. If you buy a subscription, Apple processes the payment — I never see your card details, billing address or Apple ID.

I receive only an anonymous confirmation that a valid subscription exists, so paid features can unlock. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.

7. Your rights

Because almost nothing is collected, most data rights resolve themselves:

Access

There is no personal data held about you to access. Crash logs are anonymous and cannot be traced back to an individual.

Deletion

Delete the app and any device identifier is gone. Your files were always local, so they go with it.

Correction

Nothing personal is stored, so there is nothing to correct.

Opt out

Disable crash reporting in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Portability

Your projects are already on your device. Export them any time from within the app.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, California, India or anywhere with comparable data protection law, you have the rights those laws grant. Exercise any of them by emailing gurjaishrat@gmail.com — I will reply within 30 days.

If you believe your data has been mishandled, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Children

Descripted is not directed at children under 13. No personal data is knowingly collected from anyone, children included. If you have a concern, email gurjaishrat@gmail.com.

9. Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects privacy — for example, if a future version adds an optional cloud feature — this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the change will be announced in the app.

The Last updated date at the top always reflects the current version.
