Since February 2025 we have been holding a series of successful Singalongs at the Dersingham Village Centre, mostly in 'The Garden Room' with some exceptions on the last Friday afternoon of each month from 2pm to 4pm. All very informal - we sing anything from folksongs, evergreen classic favourites, or whatever really, and you'd be most welcome to join us. If you play, strum, pluck, blow or shake an acoustic instrument, by all means bring it along and if you'd like to sing or lead a song or two, that would be great. We break for a cup of tea or coffee midway through the session. And even if feel you don't sing or play anything but just would like to come along to listen and be a part, that'd be fine and you could still get to choose a song or two that you'd like to hear. We don't charge though there is a plate left out during our tea/coffee break to make a purely optional contribution towards the relatively small cost of room hire.
Our next few Singalongs are scheduled for:
Friday 24th April
Friday 29th May
Friday 26th June
We do have a 'book' of song words we use that have been collected over recent years though this is not intended to place any restrictions what gets sung! It also includes suggested keys to play them in and the occasional helpful chord, but voice ranges differ and so we like to try and adapt accordingly! A PDF copy of this 'book' is available to download to your phone or tablet to bring along with you by clicking onto this link:
There's also now a special Christmas Supplement songbook which can downloaded by clicking on:
We do maintain at least a dozen or so printed copies of the songbook available at the Singalongs. You can of course print out your own copy though being very large print, it is best reduced down from A4 down to A5 or even A6 size as we do for the Singalongs.
For further details or simply to register an interest please email me at steve.dersingham@gmail.com and if you like I can include you in my email list for updates. Further details will also also posted on the 'Dersingers' and 'Dersingham Village Group' Facebook pages.
Do come along whatever your level of singing or playing ability. Every one who comes gets to chose a song either from the songbook or, if you're prepared to lead it yourself, from anywhere else! It's great fun and we look forward to meeting you there.
You may also be interested in trying out the Dersingham Choir (of which I am also a member) and which meets on Thursday evenings between 7 and 9pm at St Cecilia's Church, Dersingham. This has been running for a few years now and has its own website at: dersinghamchoir.com.
This site was set up originally to promote home recorded singalong versions of modern worship songs by Steve & Melanie from their separate homes in Dersingham during the COVID lockdown. These were then edited and used in the weekly online YouTube worship videos put out by St Nicholas Church, Dersingham. YouTube playlists of all these recordings can be accessed by clicking on the links below or simply by searching for 'dersingers' within a YouTube app or website.
We're happy to promote any other non-profit making singing activities taking place within the village of Dersingham.
