Let us help prevent people having "long lies"
What is a long lie? A long lie is when a person has fallen, and spends a long time on the floor waiting for help.
A patient is deemed to have a long lie if they are on the floor for over 60 minutes
Currently people who have fallen and not sustained injury are triaged at the lowest Category (category 4) by the ambulance service, which can be a wait of 4-8 hours, depending on current workload
And the longer the person stays on the floor, the higher the risk of pressure sores, dehydration, hypothermia, kidney injury and extended hospital stays
But we have a solution!
DLM Falls Team
The team is available for individual taskings or monthly subscriptions
Our Falls vehicles come staffed with EMT led crews and are equipped with the following
- Medical kits
- Trauma kits
- Oxygen
- Entonox
- Defibrillator
- Observation kits
- Mangar Elk

- Moving and handling equipment
On arrival we will assess for trauma and/or medical issues then if safe to do so, lift the patient back into bed or their chair, If we find injury or illness we will provide immediate care to the patient until the 999 ambulance arrives
Our aim is to reduce the chances of a long lie for the patient, improving outcomes and quality of life
