MPSE and DePaul University are excited to present “Big Sound at Big Shoulders,” a sound‑focused panel taking place during the upcoming International Student Film Festival.
The session will be moderated by MPSE board member, Korey Pereira, who will lead an engaging discussion on sound design, post‑production workflows, and the creative role of audio in shaping compelling cinematic stories.

Following the panel, guests are invited to stay for a reception with refreshments, offering the perfect opportunity to connect with peers, network with industry professionals, and continue the conversation in a relaxed setting.
Hailed by Indiewire as “a rising filmmaker well worth the attention,” Pete works as a director, producer, writer, editor and cinematographer. He has produced and directed five feature films in the past five years.
In 2025, he was at Sundance with OBEX, a fantasy adventure feature he produced, co-wrote and shot. This was followed by THE TRUE BEAUTY OF BEING BITTEN BY A TICK, a genre-bending horror satire he directed, co-wrote and shot premiering at SXSW. Most recently, he directed the international romantic drama ERUPCJA starring Charli xcx which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Film Synopsis
After a tragic accident, Yvonne drives down to her friend Camille’s bucolic new home for some time away. She’s welcomed by A.J. and Isaac, two new friends of Camille, who also maybe live there. The group promises a weekend of homemade meals from fresh, local produce and parlor games by candlelight. But when Yvonne develops troubling symptoms from a tick bite, the rural paradise fades away revealing a breeding ground for a disturbing new life.
