Feedback 5 Photos #3

2022, January 14

For the third time I submitted 5 photos at my local photo club NAFVA. Looking forward to the feedback from these experienced photographers.

I submitted these 5 photos:

Photo 1

Feedback: Classic framed. Beautiful to see the highlights in the trees. Also from the tree to the left. And also good to see that the twigs on the right not touching the tree in the middle.

Someone mentioned if it would be nicer to remove the two small twigs (middle top).

I hear this more often during these sessions, to brush things o! in the photos. But that’s going too far for me. Admitted, I also crop and play with the lighting of the photos but don’t like to remove things. For me this means that I could also add things. I understand it is all about the "nal image we want to show. But in my opinion that is no longer photography but image editing.

Feedback: there are enough elements in this photo to make you wonder. The Christmas lights, the car in the parking. Pleasant light on the grass before the bike.

Photo 3

Feedback: Too much in these scene. It was enough to show the basket and the goal, with the church. I got that. But for me it wasn’t just the basket. For me it was both the traffic sign and the basket in this scene.

I think this is too less of the scene.

Feedback: We always have two “judges”. One liked the left side, the dark area, the other mentioned it was not adding something extra to it.

I got the question why I have this left side in the frame. I am not going out to photograph nature landscapes. But I do see the beauty of it. Something we also find in the urban landscape. Therefore it is important for me to show both the city and the nature in one frame. Somebody else mentioned you don’t want to see cars in the photograph.

I agree the focus is now more on the main subject. And by cropping it like this you still see the city. A good lesson, think more abou the edges of the frame, focus more on the main subject.

Funny photo where you can already see that someone has stolen the wheel.

One of the “judges” was not keen on the left air filter. Maybe better to make it as a square ratio. With only the bike and right sign. The other “judge” mentioned it put it in more balance. This was causing a discussion, people agreed more that this triangle composition was okay.
