If you want a professional-grade, high-pressure solvent system to strip grease and brake dust for intensive DIY repairs, choose DENCO DISTRIBUTING, INC 1930; if you need a complete, vehicle-specific drum set designed to restore braking power on your Scion xD, choose EFCUCLP Rear Brake Shoes. These two items sit in completely different corners of the automotive world, yet both are critical tools for anyone serious about maintaining their vehicle without relying on a shop. One is a chemical weapon against grime, while the other is a mechanical solution for stopping power. Confusing them would be a costly mistake, but understanding where each excels ensures your next repair job goes exactly as planned.
• DENCO DISTRIBUTING, INC 1930: Delivers aggressive cleaning with high pressure from start to finish and minimal runoff, but its sale is prohibited in several major states including California and New York.
• EFCUCLP Rear Brake Shoes: Provides a complete 5-piece replacement kit tailored specifically for Scion xD models (2008-2014) that meets industry quality standards, though it requires specific fitment verification.
• The Pick for Heavy Cleaning: Choose the Denco pack if your primary goal is deep cleaning brake components before installation or maintenance.
• The Pick for Replacement: Choose the EFCUCLP set if you are performing a full rear brake job on a compatible Scion and need new shoes installed.
This product is built for the mechanic who refuses to compromise on the cleanliness of their workspace and parts. The core design philosophy here is efficiency and aggression. You get a highly aggressive formula that contains no cheap fillers, which translates to a cleaner result than generic alternatives. The spray mechanism is engineered to maintain high pressure from the very first burst all the way until the can is empty, ensuring consistent performance throughout the job. This is not a weak mist that leaves residue behind; it is a focused stream designed to blast away heavy grease, oil, and baked-on brake dust.
For the DIY enthusiast, the speed of this product is a major advantage. It dries fast with minimal runoff, meaning you spend less time waiting for parts to dry and more time getting back under the car. The low odor and low VOC formulation make it significantly more tolerable to use in an open garage compared to harsher industrial solvents, reducing the headache factor during long sessions. However, the sheer power of this cleaner means it is strictly a tool for removal and preparation. It does not replace the need for mechanical parts; it prepares the ground for them.
You should buy this if you are doing a lot of brake work, suspension cleaning, or general engine bay detailing where grease removal is the bottleneck. The 36-pack format suggests it is intended for frequent users who go through cleaners quickly, perhaps running a small fleet of vehicles or handling multiple projects a week. However, you must skip this product entirely if you reside in Delaware, New Hampshire, Maryland, Connecticut, Utah, California, Rhode Island, Michigan, Colorado, or New York, as the sale of this item is legally prohibited in those jurisdictions due to its specific chemical composition. If you are in one of these states, you will need to find an alternative locally.

In stark contrast to the chemical focus of the previous item, this offering is a targeted mechanical solution for a specific problem: worn-out rear brakes on a Scion xD. Its primary value proposition is fitment precision. Designed specifically for Scion vehicles manufactured between 2008 and 2014, it eliminates the guesswork often associated with aftermarket parts shopping. When you are lifting a car and looking at a rusty drum, knowing the part matches the factory specifications down to the part number 1677878443 provides peace of mind.
The design intent here is reliability and consistency. The manufacturer has built this standard to meet industry requirements for quality control, aiming to ensure that the friction material performs predictably under load. For a DIY repair, this is crucial because incorrect thickness or poor-quality friction compound can lead to noise, vibration, or premature wear. This set allows you to tackle a safety-critical component yourself without worrying that the parts will fall apart the moment you hit the road. It is a "plug-and-play" style approach for the mechanical side of things.
Who should buy this? You should only consider this if you own a Scion xD from the 2008-2014 model years and are facing a situation where your current brake shoes are worn beyond safe limits. It is ideal for someone who wants to replace the entire assembly rather than just clean it. Conversely, if you drive a Toyota Corolla, a Honda Civic, or any vehicle outside that specific Scion window, this product is useless to you regardless of how good the quality claims sound. It is a single-purpose tool for a single purpose: restoring the braking surface on a specific generation of Scion.
• Best for Deep Cleaning Grease and Dust → DENCO DISTRIBUTING, INC 1930, as its high-pressure, low-runoff formula is designed to strip contaminants that physical scrubbing cannot remove.
• Best for Replacing Worn Components → EFCUCLP Rear Brake Shoes, because it provides the actual physical friction material needed to stop the vehicle when the old parts fail.
• Best for High-Volume Users → DENCO DISTRIBUTING, INC 1930, given the 36-unit bulk packaging which supports frequent maintenance cycles across multiple vehicles.
• Best for Specific Vehicle Fitment → EFCUCLP Rear Brake Shoes, as it is engineered exclusively for the 2008-2014 Scion xD platform with verified part numbers.
• Best for Fast Turnaround Times → DENCO DISTRIBUTING, INC 1930, since its fast-drying nature reduces wait time between cleaning and reassembly.
• Best for Safety-Critical Repairs → EFCUCLP Rear Brake Shoes, as replacing the actual shoe material is the only way to restore braking performance once the original friction is gone.
• Best for Low-Odor Environments → DENCO DISTRIBUTING, INC 1930, utilizing its low-VOC, low-odor chemistry for better air quality in the workspace.
• Best for Industry Standard Compliance → EFCUCLP Rear Brake Shoes, which explicitly cites adherence to industry quality control standards for reliable performance.
As an independent reviewer analyzing these specs, I recommend the DENCO DISTRIBUTING, INC 1930 for the vast majority of DIYers who need a reliable cleaning agent, simply because keeping parts clean is a universal requirement that applies to almost every car repair project. However, if your specific task is fixing a noisy or failing brake system on a Scion xD, the EFCUCLP Rear Brake Shoes become the only logical choice because cleaning worn shoes never fixes the underlying loss of friction material. For my own garage, I would grab the Denco pack immediately to prep parts for any job, but I would only reach for the EFCUCLP set if I were actually standing over a Scion xD with a drum that needed rebuilding. Both are excellent tools, but they serve fundamentally different roles in the repair process.
