Have a memory problem? Discover the new scientific breakthrough to all memory problems
Dementia is an umbrella term for loss of memory, language problem, problem-solving and other thinking and reasoning abilities that interferes with daily life.
Dementia develops when the parts of your brain involved with learning, memory, language, or decision-making are affected by infections or diseases.
These diseases are often referred to as types of dementia, and the most common type of dementia is alzheimer’s disease
UNDERSTANDING THE TYPES OF DEMENTIA
TYPES OF DEMENTIA
Dementia is not a single disease, it’s a general term used to cover a wide range of specific medical conditions that affects a different part of the brain causing a decline in cognitive and other abilities….
They include;
Alzheimer’s Disease — This is the most common cause of dementia. It is a progressive neurologic disorder that causes the brain to shrink and the brain cells to die.
Researchers are yet to identify the exact cause of Alzheimer's disease, but they’ve been able to identify the roles that plagues and tangles play in the build-up of this disease and also how the Leaky brain blood vessel contributes to the development of Alzheimer’s disease, coupled with other key risk factors
Dementia with Lewy bodies — This is progressive dementia that causes a decline in thinking, reasoning, and independent functions.
Frontotemporal Dementia — frontotemporal dementia is a rare type of dementia that refers to a group of disorders caused by progressive nerve cell loss in the brain's frontal lobes. It affects one’s behavior, judgment, personality, language, and movement
Creutzfeldt-Jakobs disease — This is the most common group of rare brain problems known as prion disease. There’s no known cause for the disease and it is the type that gets worse unusually fast.
Mixed dementia — This is a combination of several types of dementia. The autopsy studies involving older people living with dementia, it showed that many people had a combination of several causes of dementia
THE SYMPTOMS OF DEMENTIA
SYMPTOMS OF DEMENTIA
Dementia is an umbrella term for several diseases that disrupts brain function. Its symptoms include but are not limited to the following
The trouble with money and paying bills
Poor judgment and confusion
Loss of interest in normal daily activities
Experiencing hallucinations and delusions
Problems with movement and losing balance
Taking longer times to complete normal daily tasks
Impulsive actions
Problems with speaking, understanding, reading, writing, and expressing one’s thoughts

These symptoms are general symptoms of dementia. Unique symptoms occur depending on the specific type of dementia one is suffering from.
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF DEMENTIA
CAUSES OF DEMENTIA
Dementia is caused by damage to the brain cells which disrupts the ability of the brain cells to communicate with each other. Dementia can affect people differently depending on the area of the brain that is damaged.
Certain factors may increase the chance of someone getting dementia. Some of these factors are controllable while some are not. For example, the greatest risk factor of dementia is age and it isn't controllable but can be managed.
Other risks factors include;
Down syndrome
Depression
Smoking
Excessive alcohol
Thyroid problems
Vitamin deficiencies
Stress and anxiety

TREATMENTS FOR DEMENTIA
Currently, there is no cure for dementia. This could be because dementia is caused by different diseases and researchers are aimed at finding a cure for the different causes of dementia.
So far, they’ve been able to come up with medications that have shown significant success in managing some of the different symptoms of dementia.
These medications include;
Cholinesterase Inhibitors— These are a group of medicines that prevents the breakdown of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine which is the main neurotransmitter in the body, functioning in both the peripheral and central nervous system.
They are primarily used to treat Mild Alzheimer's disease, and can also be used to treat other forms of dementia.
It has a couple of side effects which include; nausea, diarrhea, difficulty in sleeping, constriction of the pupils, constriction of the airways, slow heart rate, mucus secretion in the respiratory tract, and vomiting.
Memantine — Memantine is used to treat moderate or mild symptoms of dementia. The way it works is that it regulates the activities of glutamate, a brain chemical that boosts learning.
Its side effect includes; Severe headache, convulsions, mood swings, blurred vision, dizziness, and diarrhea.
It’s good to note that these side effects may vary from person to person.
Neurodrine — Neurodrine is an Advanced Biohealth product that is used in fighting against memory decline and helps in improving cognitive abilities.
What Neurodrine does is that it targets the root cause of brain deterioration, “The Leaky Brain Blood Vessel”.
According to the MRI study by some groups of researchers. They found out that those who are experiencing mild problems with thinking and memory had much leakier blood vessels in the hippocampus (The part of the brain that is involved with thinking and learning)
Neurodrine helps in repairing the brain's blood vessels. It is used in treating memory loss, thinking, and learning problems. It also helps in reducing stress and anxiety levels and as well helps people with depression(One of Alzheimer’s risk factors)
The side effects of Neurodrine include; Dizziness, mild headache, and weakness.
Other Medications — Depending on the type and stage of your dementia, your doctor may prescribe medications to use in treating other symptoms such as sleep disorder, hallucination agitation
