A device driver or software driver is a computer program allowing higher-level computer programs to interact with a hardware device. For the Latitude 5490 Notebook, all the driver installations for their devices are similar except that some computers may have more devices than the other.

After a clean installation of the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system, you must install the following drivers and software packages:

Before network drivers are installed, the Microsoft Windows operating system does not recognize the integrated LOM and sets the device up as an Ethernet Controller under Other devices. Once you install the network drivers, it is recognized properly under Network adapters.

PXE boot and get no prompts. OK, the network drivers in the boot image don't work. No big deal. I hit F8 and check for a hard drive, because if I'm going to create a new boot image might as well get all the drivers in there. No hard drive. Storage needs to be updated as well. Create a new boot image, add the drivers, deploy, update DP's and try again. NOTE: None of the drivers in the CAB are classified as "storage". You will have to uncheck the box to find them. They are classed as " HDC", "SCSIAdapter", "SoftwareComponent", and "Extension"(these might not all be necessary, but like I said it's better to edit the boot image as few times as possible). Also, in the cases that I have to do more for a new model, this is all the farther I ever have to go.

For those of you who get this model of laptop, head to the standard support site and grab the single driver for the wired network card right off the bat. The rest of the CAB appears to be OK, but I can't know for sure because Dell continues to release updated drivers for this thing daily (5 yesterday, 4 today). I have a posting for this on Dell's community site and have told them about this problem. Hopefully we'll see an update to the CAB sooner rather than later. Also, these issues are present in at least 1809 and 1803. I didn't go back any further than that. I've cut large chunks of my troubleshooting on this out of the post, so if you have questions, please let me know. Information is thin for the Latitude 5400, so I'm hoping this helps someone else.

Dell Latitude 5490 drivers will help to eliminate failures and correct errors in your device's operation. Download Dell Latitude 5490 drivers for different OS Windows versions (32 and 64 bit). After you have downloaded the archive with Dell Latitude 5490 driver, unpack the file in any folder and run it.

Thanks for your responses. Sorry for the delay in response. I've been out of the office the last 2 weeks. So I think I figured out the BSOD part. It was the Network and storage drivers. I was having similar issues building a reference image in MDT. Turns out Dell Latitude 5400s are newer model laptops that WinPE doesnt seem to have the correct network and storage Drivers for. So I downloaded the latest Dell WinPE CAB file and the latest Network drivers from the Dell website and injected these drivers into the boot.wim files in ghost (probably not the best way to do it) Adding drivers using the PXE Configurator didnt seem to work and is time consuming. Never had a problem after that. I injected drivers into the boot.wim files in ..\PXE\Images\MenuOption131\X64\sources and in ..\PXE\MasterImages\MenuOption131\X64\sources I wasnt sure which one is used so I edited both.

Hi All,

I posted this to Dell's forums already but haven't had any responses there, so I thought I'd reach out here.

We've been noticing a problem when using Ethernet over USB-C on our latitude machines. Our company uses several different models of Latitude but recently we have been implementing 7480's, 7490's, 5480's, and 5490's with WD15 docks. Part of our business involves using Parallels for a remote connection to a service hosted by another company.

Lately, several of our employees have been complaining about their connection dropping frequently (about once every 15 minutes on average)

After a lot of testing, I've determined that when Ethernet is run through the USB-C port, the machines will lose connection for about 5 pings every 15 minutes-ish (this isn't consistent). while it isn't enough of a drop to cause noticeable problems with normal internet usage, it is enough that it will kick users out of their remote connection and force them to log back in and start over. I've confirmed that:

I've updated the BIOS on affected machines, updated all USB and Ethernet drivers, and updated all firmware for the WD-15 docks, using Dell support assist, Dell command update, and manually installing drivers. This issue is currently affecting about 15 people using the above latitude machines.

Has anyone had an issue like this before? any suggestions?

Thank you

The laptop is a Dell latitude 5490. The CPU is i5-8350U, integrated graphic card Intel 620. As said I just did a fresh install, following the guide. I installed gnome. Everything works fine, audio, network, firefox,... but the computer randomly blinks (screen goes black for a split of a second). I did install the drivers xf86-video-intel, but I removed them and the blinking persists.
