Dekaf Connect is a social app that provides interactive map for venues, with simple and convenient text messaging feature. We care about privacy and security of your personal information.
Collecting and Using Your Personal Data
We do not collect or share any of your personal data to third parties.
1. Information We Collect
Anonymous Login: When you use our app with anonymous login a temporary user account with random id is automatically generated on the server. And uploaded data is associated with this account.
Profile Information: Users have the option to provide a simple description and a profile photo. This information is used to get identified by other users in the interactive map of the place, and also provides simple account personalization.
Place Email, Phone and Website Address (for place owners): This is required only for place owners that want to create an account and use the Builder feature. Email and phone are used in the process of approval to ensure the account belongs to the registered physical place, such as cafe, club or restaurant. In most cases this information will be public and shared on their venue/company website.
Place GPS coordinates (by current device location during registration process): To pinpoint the physical place's location in the main city map that is presented to the guest users.
Bluetooth scan permission: Scans for nearby Bluetooth beacons, then uses distance estimates based on signal strength to determine the user's table. The app does not connect or communicate with any Bluetooth devices.
Location permission: Bluetooth scanning, nearby place detection, and registration as place owner require access to location data. Location data is collected even when the app is closed or not in use.
Background Location permission: Required in addition to Location permission on some devices
Show Notifications permission: Android 13 requires user permission to show notifications
Chat feature: Full chat conversations are not stored on the server, only the most recent message by user. These chat messages are associated with an anonymous account.
2. Data Retention
Guest account data is retained, however since it is anonymous the provided information(photo and description) cannot be associated with the person using the app. Place owner account data is retained, but can be deleted with email request. The place owner information is typically public and shared on their company/venue website. This is required for the account to be confirmed and approved.
Children's Privacy
Our application does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not collect any personal information for children through the application.
