Go to OATD.org and enter keywords, author names, or institutions in the search bar. Use filters on the left to narrow by date, degree level, or language.
EBSCO Open Dissertations
EBSCO Open Dissertations is a free database that aggregates metadata and links to full-text theses and dissertations from institutions around the world. It includes historical content from the American Doctoral Dissertations project and is continually expanding.
Access EBSCO Open Dissertations and use the search bar at the top to look up topics, authors, or titles. While there is no advanced search, results can be sorted or browsed easily.
Finding Dissertations with Google or Google Scholar
You can often find full-text dissertations by searching Google Scholar at scholar.google.com. Try using keywords related to your topic, and consider adding the word “dissertation” or “thesis” to your search. You can also include the name of a university if you're looking for work from a specific institution. If a full text isn’t available, you can request it through our interlibrary loan service.
Google Scholar is a great tool for getting a broad view of what’s been published on a topic—including research that may not be in our library’s databases. It’s perfect for discovery and finding open access articles, but never pay for an article—if you hit a paywall, just contact a librarian and we’ll get it for you, fast and free.
