Privacy Policy — Deep Note
Last updated: [08/10/2026]
This Privacy Policy describes how the Deep Note app ("we", "the app", "Deep Note") handles user data. By installing and using Deep Note, you agree to the practices described in this document.
1. General Information
Deep Note is an app for creating notes and organizing information (notes, folders, lists, tables, calendars, tasks, mind maps, voice recordings, images, videos, files, and other blocks). Our core principle is local privacy: your data belongs to you and stays on your device.
We do not collect, sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
2. Locally Stored Data
The following data is created and stored exclusively on your device (in a local database and the app's internal storage):
- The content of your notes, blocks, folders, lists, tables, tasks, calendar events, histories, and settings;
- Voice recordings (voice notes) and audio files created by you;
- Images, videos, and files you add to your notes;
- Content captured by the clipboard (Clip) feature, when you use it;
- Mood and productivity data you record;
- App preferences and Pro plan status.
This data is private and is not sent to our servers. Deleting notes, blocks, or recordings removes them from your device.
3. Permissions Used
Deep Note requests certain system permissions, only when the corresponding feature is used. No permission is used to collect or monitor data without your direct interaction. The following is the full list of declared permissions and their purposes:
Media and Storage
- Photos and storage (`READ_MEDIA_IMAGES`, `READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE`): used to select and insert images, videos, and files into your notes, when you request it. The selected files are stored only on your device.
Microphone and Audio
- Microphone (`RECORD_AUDIO`): used exclusively to record voice notes, only when you actively start a recording. The recorded audio is stored only on your device and is never sent to our servers.
Phone Calls
- Make phone calls (`CALL_PHONE`): used to call phone numbers contained in your notes, action blocks, widgets, or notifications directly, when you tap the call button. The call is made by the system, and the number is processed only at that moment.
Notifications and Alarms
- Notifications (`POST_NOTIFICATIONS`): used to display reminders, task alarms, and feature alerts.
- Exact alarms (`SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM`, `USE_EXACT_ALARM`): used to trigger your reminders and alarms at the exact time you set.
- Vibration (`VIBRATE`): used to make the phone vibrate when you receive a reminder or alarm notification.
Overlay and Clipboard
- Screen overlay (`SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW`): used by the "Clip" feature, which can display a floating button over other apps to capture copied content.
- Clipboard: the "Clip" feature reads the clipboard content only when you actively use it, to save the captured content into your notes. It is never read in the background outside of this feature.
4. Advertising (AdMob)
Deep Note may display ads provided by Google AdMob (banners, interstitials, rewarded, and native). Google may collect data to display ads, including your device's advertising ID and usage data, in accordance with its [Google Privacy Policy].
5. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Deep Note offers Pro features (ad removal and premium features) through in-app purchases and subscriptions processed by Google Play Billing and the Adapty platform.
- Payment processing is handled exclusively by Google Play. We do not have access to your credit card or payment data.
- Adapty may process anonymized data related to your purchases (e.g., product identifiers and subscription status) to validate and restore your purchases.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions at any time through the Google Play app.
6. Backup
Deep Note does not send data to its own servers. Backups are entirely user-controlled, in the following ways:
1. Manual backup (.dnote file): You can create a backup of your notes (including folders, libraries, tasks, and reminders) at any time through Deep Note's export feature. The backup is saved in a file with the .dnote extension, in the location you choose (device storage, cloud service, email, etc.). No data leaves your device or is sent over the Internet during this operation, unless you choose to save or send the file to an external service on your own initiative. This file can be imported back into Deep Note to restore your notes.
2. Automatic backup to Google Drive (optional feature): If you enable this feature, Deep Note automatically saves a .dnote backup file in a private, app-exclusive folder in your own Google Drive account. This feature only works if you sign in with your Google account and can be disabled at any time. You can delete these backups through the Deep Note backup feature.
7. Data Collected by the Developer
We do not collect personal data. Deep Note does not use:
- Its own account creation;
- Analytics tracking of our own;
- Crash reporting services of our own;
- Collection of contacts, location, or biometric data.
The only data processed outside your device results from third-party services you use (Google AdMob for ads, Google Play/Adapty for purchases, and Google Drive for optional backup), always as described in this document.
8. Security
Your data is protected on your device through the security mechanisms of the operating system itself (Android). We recommend that you enable your device's screen lock and keep the operating system up to date. Locked notes use additional protection mechanisms provided by the app.
9. Children's Privacy
Deep Note is not intended for children under 13 and does not intentionally collect personal data from children. Ad features can be disabled with the Pro subscription.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be published on this page, with the date at the top of the document updated.
