The Phosphoric Acid Price Trend moved clearly upward during Q2 2026 as the global market dealt with higher feedstock costs, steady fertilizer demand, and strong food-grade consumption. Prices increased across most major markets, although the size of the increase varied from one region to another.Β
North America saw strong gains, while several Asian markets recorded particularly sharp increases in food-grade material. Europe, on the other hand, experienced a more moderate rise because buyers had comfortable inventories and remained cautious about purchasing.
Phosphoric acid is used in many everyday industries, including fertilizers, food and beverages, metal treatment, pharmaceuticals, and specialty chemicals. Because of this wide range of applications, its price is influenced by several factors at the same time.Β
Feedstock availability, electricity costs, sulfur and phosphate rock prices, production conditions, freight rates, inventories, and downstream demand can all affect the market.

During Q2 2026, the overall movement in Phosphoric Acid Prices was positive across nearly all of the markets covered. The fertilizer segment remained an important source of demand, especially in the Middle East, North America, and South America. At the same time, food-grade phosphoric acid experienced strong demand in parts of Asia.
One of the clearest reasons behind the price increase was the rise in production costs. Sulfur and phosphate-related feedstocks became more expensive in several producing regions. In China, higher electricity tariffs also increased yellow phosphorus production costs, adding further pressure to food-grade phosphoric acid prices.
Logistics also played a role. Shipping conditions became less predictable during the quarter because of geopolitical tensions and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz. Even where actual production continued normally, uncertainty around vessel movements and freight costs encouraged suppliers and buyers to remain cautious.
The quarterly movement was broadly upward, but not every country followed the same pattern.
North America recorded some of the strongest fertilizer-grade increases. Prices in the USA, Canada, and Mexico rose by around 18% to 20% quarter-on-quarter. Higher sulfur-related production costs in the USA supported export prices, while strong fertilizer demand kept purchasing activity healthy.
Asia Pacific showed particularly strong increases in food-grade phosphoric acid. China, Australia, and South Korea all recorded increases of more than 37% during the quarter. India and Vietnam also posted gains, although their market movements were influenced by local supply and buying conditions.
Europe experienced more moderate increases. Spain and Belgium saw quarterly gains of around 11% to 12%. Comfortable inventories, balanced fertilizer demand, and cautious purchasing prevented a sharper increase.
The Middle East continued to see firm fertilizer-grade pricing, while Brazil followed a similar fertilizer-driven direction. Overall, the Phosphoric Acid Price Chart for Q2 2026 would show a synchronized upward movement across most tracked markets.
Morocco experienced a steady increase in fertilizer-grade phosphoric acid prices during Q2 2026. Strong demand from the international fertilizer market supported the upward movement. Higher rock phosphate and sulfur costs during the early part of the quarter also increased production expenses.
Export inquiries from important buying regions added another layer of support. As international buyers remained active, domestic availability became tighter, helping maintain firm FOB quotations.
Geopolitical tensions and uncertainty around shipping routes also affected market sentiment. However, production in Morocco remained stable.
In June 2026, the Moroccan price increased by 2% from the previous month. Across Q2, the overall increase was approximately 13%.
China recorded one of the strongest increases during the quarter, particularly in food-grade phosphoric acid. Higher yellow phosphorus production costs were an important factor behind the rise. Increased electricity tariffs and firm phosphate ore prices pushed manufacturing costs higher.
At the same time, demand remained healthy from food and beverage producers, metal treatment applications, and specialty chemical industries. Domestic producers maintained disciplined supply, while export interest stayed firm.
The direct effect of Middle East geopolitical tensions on Chinese exports was relatively limited. However, changes in global freight conditions added some additional logistics costs.
In June, China's phosphoric acid price increased by 16% from May. For the full second quarter, the price increased by approximately 39%.
Vietnam also recorded a noticeable increase in food-grade phosphoric acid prices. Demand from food processing and industrial users remained firm, while higher phosphate feedstock costs increased manufacturing expenses. Vietnam's price increased by 10% in June and approximately 16% over the quarter.
Australia and South Korea experienced much stronger increases because both markets are important import destinations for Chinese food-grade phosphoric acid.
In Australia, higher Chinese FOB prices were reflected in CIF Sydney prices. Food and beverage demand remained healthy, and stable freight conditions allowed the higher Chinese export prices to pass through to the Australian market. Australian prices increased by 17% in June and approximately 38% during Q2.
South Korea followed a similar pattern. Higher Chinese FOB prices increased import costs, while demand from food processing, electronics, and metal treatment remained firm. Prices increased by 15% in June and approximately 38% for the quarter.
Jordan's fertilizer-grade market remained firm during Q2. Strong fertilizer export demand supported prices, while higher sulfur costs during the early part of the quarter increased production expenses.
Shipping uncertainty in the Middle East also affected the market. Despite these challenges, production remained steady. Jordanian prices increased by 2% in June and around 13% during the quarter.
Saudi Arabia, which imports fertilizer-grade phosphoric acid from Jordan, also recorded an increase. Higher Jordanian FOB prices raised import costs, while steady fertilizer demand supported purchasing activity.
In June, Saudi Arabian prices increased by 2% from the previous month. The overall Q2 increase was approximately 17%.
The USA saw fertilizer-grade phosphoric acid prices strengthen during Q2 2026. Domestic fertilizer demand remained firm, while higher sulfur prices increased production costs. Stable phosphate rock availability helped maintain production, but strong domestic and export demand supported FOB values.
In June, the US price increased by 8% from the previous month. The overall quarterly increase was approximately 20%.
Canada and Mexico were affected by the higher US export prices because both markets imported phosphoric acid from the USA.
Canada recorded a 7% monthly increase in June and an overall quarterly increase of approximately 19%. Mexico also increased by 8% in June and approximately 19% during the quarter.
Stable freight conditions between the USA and its neighboring markets meant that higher FOB prices were relatively directly reflected in import costs.
Brazil's fertilizer-grade phosphoric acid market also moved higher during Q2. Agricultural demand remained firm, particularly ahead of seasonal planting activity. Higher Moroccan FOB prices increased Brazilian import costs.
Brazilian prices increased by 2% in June and approximately 13% over the quarter.
Spain had a somewhat different experience. Although Moroccan export prices increased, comfortable inventories and balanced fertilizer demand limited the upward pressure in the Spanish market. Buyers continued to purchase mainly according to immediate requirements.
In June, Spanish prices decreased slightly by 0.1%. Despite this monthly decline, the overall quarterly increase was approximately 12%.
Belgium recorded a moderate increase of around 11% during Q2. Firm Moroccan FOB prices supported import quotations, but ample European inventories and cautious fertilizer procurement limited the speed of the increase. Belgian prices increased by 1% in June.
India recorded an overall quarterly increase of approximately 15% in food-grade phosphoric acid prices. Demand from food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemical industries supported the market.
However, the market changed direction toward the end of the quarter. Domestic availability improved, inventories became more comfortable, and downstream buying weakened.
As a result, India's phosphoric acid price decreased by 18% in June compared with the previous month. This shows why looking only at one month's movement can sometimes give an incomplete picture of the broader market.
The Phosphoric Acid Price Chart for Q2 2026 shows an important market pattern: prices generally moved upward, but the strength of the increase depended on the product grade, source market, destination market, and local supply conditions.
Food-grade prices showed particularly strong gains in China, Australia, and South Korea. Fertilizer-grade prices increased more steadily in markets such as Morocco, Jordan, the USA, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and Mexico.
Europe remained comparatively moderate because buyers had sufficient inventories and were not under strong pressure to build stocks.
This difference between regions is important for anyone monitoring phosphoric acid procurement. A global price movement does not necessarily mean that every local market will move at exactly the same speed.
The Phosphoric Acid Price Index for Q2 2026 confirmed sustained year-on-year gains across almost all tracked regions. The index movement reflects the broad-based nature of the increase rather than a rise in only one isolated market.
Several factors worked together during the quarter. Higher feedstock costs raised production expenses, fertilizer demand remained healthy, food-grade demand was strong in Asia, and shipping uncertainty added pressure to international trade.
At the same time, markets with comfortable inventories, such as parts of Europe, were able to limit some of the upward pressure.
Looking beyond Q2, the direction of the phosphoric acid market will depend on how several key factors develop. Feedstock costs will remain important because changes in phosphate rock, sulfur, and yellow phosphorus costs can quickly affect production economics.
Demand will also be closely watched. Fertilizer consumption remains an important driver for fertilizer-grade phosphoric acid, while food processing, industrial applications, metal treatment, and specialty chemicals influence food-grade demand.
Freight conditions are another factor to monitor. If shipping conditions remain uncertain, import-dependent markets may continue to face additional cost pressure. On the other hand, improved logistics and comfortable inventories could reduce some of the upward pressure.
The Q2 2026 data therefore points to a market that entered the second half of the year with firm pricing conditions, although individual countries may continue to behave differently depending on supply, inventory, and local demand.
