Debbie Michel

Web/Graphic designer

1. My passion is designing. For years, I have been playing around with different graphic, video and coding software so I could edit photos and videos, create slideshows, make logos, work instructions, flyers, and web designs. It was all just for fun. I would get lost in my projects and forget about the time. I never thought of it as something I could do to make money. Why would anyone pay me to have fun?

2. I love to coach. I have had the position as supervisor for years. I never saw myself as a supervisor, I always so myself as a coach. Helping my people do a better job, have the tools they needed, teaching them what I know. I was born a coach. I love to help others succeed. My people never wanted me to leave their team. They would tell me I was a great boss and they loved the fact that I would teach them things and that was something the other leaders would not do.

3. I love to learn. The more I learn the more there is to learn. I am always looking for answers. If I want to know something, I look for the answers on the internet, books or talking to others. This goes for anything from electronics to knitting. I am always learning something new.

4. I have worked in design before, but in manufacturing. My title was Derivatives Coordinator. The company would get a request to change a product we already made. My job was to make that happen. The first step was always to ensure that I understood what the client wanted. From there I would work with other departments to ensure parts were ordered; documents were changed; Instructions were created; tests were run and machines were built. I would do some of the work myself and other team members would do other parts of the work. I did a lot of the design work. I created flyers while I worked as a real estate. I have edited photos, created work instructions, databases, drawings, spreadsheets, schematic drawings, and many other design work as needed. However, I have never had design in any of my work titles.

I have learned many things over the years and now that I am older and hopefully wiser, I realize I can work and have fun. I can take my passion for design and make money too. That is not to say I did not have fun before. I loved coaching and working as part of a team. Nevertheless, I love to troubleshoot and learn too.

I just earned my AA degree in Graphic Design with a 3.88 GPA. I am eager to collaborate with experienced designers and design teams. I want to continue to learn and grow. I want to be part of a great team. I have a lot to offer.

I bring my leadership, engineering, project management skills and most of all, my desire to learn.
