Dr. Debanjan Konar earned his PhD from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India, and worked with Prof. Bijaya Ketan Panigrahi and Prof. Tapan Kr. Gandhi and Prof. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya. Currently, Dr Konar is working as a Senior Chief Engineer (Staff Engineer) at Samsung Research & Development Institute Bangalore (SRIB), leading the Quantum Computing group. He was a Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Fellow at the Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute (PQSEI) and School of Industrial Engineering, Purdue University, working with Prof. Vaneet Aggarwal. Prior to that, he was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Center for Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS), Helmholtz Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), Dresden, Germany, and worked with Dr Attila Cangi. He also worked as a Lead Research Scientist (Quantum Computing) at BosonQ Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, India. He was a Helmholtz Visiting Fellow at the Steinbuch Center for Computing (SCC), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe, Germany, with Dr. Jörg Meyer. Dr Konar worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Sikkim, India, and as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, India. His research interests include quantum machine learning, hybrid classical-quantum algorithms, quantum-inspired neural networks, deep learning, and the analysis of medical images. Dr Konar has published articles in well-known computer science journals, conference proceedings, book chapters, and books on his own. He is a senior member of IEEE, ACM, and IE. He also reviews papers for several well-known publications and international conferences. He has won many prestigious awards, like the Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellowships for 2023–2025, the Helmholtz Visiting Researcher Grant, the Wilhelm und Else Heraeus-Stiftung Travel Grant, and many more.
