We are an experimental research group in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar. Our work focuses on spin physics in insulators, magnetoresistance effects, the anomalous Hall effect, as well as spin-transfer and spin-orbit torques in magnetic heterostructures. We deposit custom-designed single or multilayer thin films using the sputtering facility at IIT Ropar, followed by the fabrication of nanoscale devices through e-beam lithography (in collaboration with IISER Mohali) and optical lithography (CMNF, IIT Ropar). We then conduct low-noise transport measurements under high magnetic fields (9 T cryostat) to explore the charge and spin dynamics of these systems.

We are also continuously looking for bright, motivated students interested in working on spintronics projects, especially those holding their own fellowships (CSIR/UGC/DST Inspire). Depending on performance, these projects may be converted into Ph.D. opportunities at IIT Ropar.
