From soulful ballads to yodels and whistling, Dean's velvety vocals, masterful guitar and eclectic songs span from the early 1900's to the present. He draws from many genres including country, folk, blues, classic rock, soul, Celtic and original songs.

Dean is a veteran of several folk and rock bands and numerous choirs including the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus. He will be co-hosting the Varsity Community Association Open Stage Nights beginning in 2020.

Music type: His songs span from the early 1900's to the present, and draw from many genres including country, folk, blues, classic rock, soul, Celtic and original songs. His influences include Jimmy Rogers, Sam Cooke, Eva Cassidy, and Vince Gill.

Appeals most (but not limited) to: Dean loves small intimate settings. As a seasoned LRT busker Dean knows how to get attention in busy, high traffic venues as well. His music appeals to any demographic, especially boomers.

Gear: Small PA System (Bose S1 Pro, battery powered), mic and mic stand if not provided at the venue. Suitable for an audience of up to about 100 people.

Thoughts on being an older musician:

"This is much more fun that when I was younger! I don't need the money, I don't need to impress anyone, and I don't need to be successful. Just take me as I am, and I'll give you my best."

Thoughts on performing solo:

"When you are in a band you can lean on everyone else, and any rough edges are covered by a muddy wash of sound. When you perform solo you are naked, vulnerable and totally responsible for your own sound. But you are also in control and totally expressing yourself."
