This Privacy Policy explains how Dealo ("we," "us," "Dealo") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Dealo app. Dealo is a marketplace app for Ghana where every user can both buy and sell — there is no separate buyer/seller account type.
By creating a Dealo account or using the app, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Dealo. This policy should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions, available in the app.
Account information: your name (required at first login), email address, and profile photo (optional).
Listings content: product, service, and job listings you create, including photos, descriptions, and prices.
Shop information: shop name, shop photo, and shop verification documents submitted for admin review.
Payment and transaction information: order details, payment amounts, and payment status. Full card and mobile money details are collected and processed directly by Paystack, our payment processor — Dealo does not receive or store them.
Messages: chat messages and photos you exchange with other users through the in-app chat.
Device and usage information: push notification tokens, and basic app usage needed to operate features like notifications and chat.
We use the information we collect to:
Create and manage your account
Display your listings, shop, and profile to other users
Process payments and orders, including deposit/installment and protected (escrow) payments
Enable in-app chat between buyers and sellers
Send you notifications about orders, messages, and activity relevant to you
Review shop verification submissions and paid promotion requests
Investigate reports of scams, fraud, or violations of our Terms
Maintain the security and functioning of the app
Your data is stored using Firebase (Google Cloud) services — Firebase Authentication, Firestore database, and Firebase Storage for images and files. We apply access rules so that users can only read and modify data they are authorized to access. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable technical measures to protect your information.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these cases:
Paystack: when you make or receive a payment, we share what's needed to process it (such as your name, email, and transaction amount) with Paystack, our third-party payment processor. Paystack has its own privacy policy governing how it handles this data.
Other users: your name, profile photo, shop information, listings, and chat messages are visible to other users as part of normal marketplace functionality.
Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Dealo, our users, or the public.
Service providers: Google/Firebase, which hosts our backend infrastructure.
We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. Chat photos are automatically retained for up to 365 days and may be removed after that period. If you delete your account, see Section 12 below for what happens to your data.
Dealo sends push notifications for activity such as new messages, order updates, and gist/community posts. You can control which categories of notifications you receive from the app's notification settings — you are not required to receive all notification types.
You have the right to:
Access and update your account information at any time through the app
Request deletion of your account and associated data (see Section 12)
Control which notification categories you receive
Note: account deletion cannot be completed while you have an open, paid deposit/installment order. You must wait for that order to be completed, or withdraw the deposit, before your account can be deleted.
Dealo is intended for users who are at least 18 years of age, or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, or who have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children outside of this policy. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information in violation of this policy, please contact us so we can remove it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will provide notice of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Dealo after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana.
You can request account deletion from within the app, under Settings. Depending on how recently you signed in, Firebase may require you to re-authenticate (e.g. via a one-time code) before the deletion can proceed — this is a security step and does not happen every time.
If you have an open, paid deposit/installment order, deletion will be blocked until that order is completed or the deposit is withdrawn.
What data will be deleted:
Your account profile and login credentials
Your product, service, and job listings, and your shops
Shop verification documents and paid promotion requests you submitted
Your service bookings and orders placed as a buyer
Your gists (community posts)
Your chats and messages, and any photos you shared in them
Any uploaded images and files associated with the above (profile photo, listing photos, shop photos, chat photos, verification documents, etc.)
What is intentionally kept: if you sold an item to another user, that order record is kept — not deleted — so the buyer retains their own purchase/receipt history. This does not include any of your personal profile information, which is removed as described above.
Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
