✞ welcome to the dead city hq. established january 2024, while a lot of locations are centralised to modern day new york city, events of this server will of course take characters all across the globe. this discord based roleplay group sees characters from an array of fandoms. primarily, characters will be members of the downworld– demons, fae, vampires, werewolves, witches, warlocks & everything in between. all manner of supernatural creatures, likely living in the city that never sleeps, or in one of our other wonderful world locations. however, there might also be those on the flip side: shadowhunters, angels, hunters. maybe even, on rare occasions, mundanes, humans in the loop.
✞ for some time, relations between the downworld and the likes of the shadowhunters have been peaceful. with the death of the likes of valentine, things seemed set to return to ‘normal’. a hard won, but admittedly tentative kind of balance. until, that is, word of something truly dark began to spread and upset that delicate balance and attempt at peace.
✞ at the start of 2024, lucifer broke free of the pit that had contained him for an age. since then, alliances became tentative. enemies seemed to lurk in every corner and nobody knew precisely what to expect. only that just maybe, it might all just have been about to become hell on earth. and that this was absolutely not a part of the divine plan.
✞ but… there sure was a divine plan being set into motion, one that very few in heaven were aware of: the second coming... but what happens when all the plans are thrown into chaos? when heaven itself can't seem to stick to order?
✞ since we first opened in january 2024, the dead city has explored a world where not only heaven and hell are fighting for control, but where other factions and organisations with different alliances and goals collide too. this universe explores those things, while also delving into the fun and mess and life tangled up in the supernatural and spooky world. head on over to our lore pages for more information on the make up of this world, and get an idea for where your character may fit into the tale and which side of things they may fall on.

✞ every friday our submit channel in server will temporarily close as we process that weeks submissions, making fridays our weekly acceptance days. this is usually around 8pm gmt, but please always check the announcements channel in server where we will confirm each week & post an accurate timestamp that will show the time depending on your timezone.
✞ update 2nd march 2026: while we may at busier times return to the above schedule for acceptances, for the most part we will now do rolling acceptances where admins will process applications as and when they come in and we both have free time to do so. please still practise patience when submitting an application.
01. firstly, in order to join this server you must be 21+, minors dni. additionally, all playable characters must be 18+ as well as their faceclaims. as well as this, in spite of what might be a character's canon, all immortal-type characters (vampires etc) must have been 18 or older at the time of their changing.
02. use your own discretion for faceclaims. what this means is we do not have the time nor energy to make a complete list of all possible banned faceclaims, so a quick search to ensure they are not known for anything harmful is helpful in order to avoid any issues. there are also a few helpful lists already out there.
03. all submissions of applications must be sent to the submit channel in the main server. application formats can be found in server and we do not accept any character reserves at this current time. instead, we operate under a once a week acceptance day to give everyone a fair shot at applying for any characters. masterlist and most wanted lists can be found both here on the doc, and in server. as always, we reserve the right to decline any application that we feel isn’t fitting and the only time we will reach out with an explanation is if we feel something small needs to be tweaked in order to accept the application. declined applications does not mean you can’t apply with another character at a later date though!
04. bullying and any kind of hatred and bigotry will not be tolerated here. please come to an admin if you have any issues relating to this and we will deal with it.
05. if you are ever unsure if a fandom will be welcome or fit here, don't hesitate to message us to enquire! we'd be happy to help. either use dms or head over to the welcome chat or questions channel in server!
06. triggering material may be present so please be sure to list your triggers in the relevant introductions channel upon joining, and be mindful of other people’s triggers listed in the triggers channel within the server. given the mature themes etc of the premise, please be mindful of such things when considering joining.
07. all writing takes place on discord and we use the tupperbox bot for this.
08. please be respectful of everyone’s time and know that people aren’t going to be around/replying etc at all times. be patient and respectful and acknowledge that just because someone is online and perhaps even active somewhere in the server, doesn’t always mean that they have the same focus for dms and such. give the same respect you would expect!
09. always be mindful when picking up characters that you aim to be active on them in terms of threads/writing etc. as much as we don’t have more specific and strict activity monitoring, it is always disheartening to see characters go to waste when they could find love in another person’s hands. admins will keep more casual checks on this and we will also do semi-regular interest checks to nudge people into considering and checking in with their own focuses. we all have different characters and plots etc we focus on more for a time, but if you realise you aren’t using a character at all, never be shy to approach an admin if you’d like to drop.
10. with that in mind, we do not have any specific character limits in terms of how many you can apply for/write, but we do try to encourage people not to write too many overly connected muses as this tends to mean limited interactions. there will always be exceptions on a case by case basis!
