Dead Man's Bones surfaced in October 2009 with a full-length self-titled record and it's actually good!!! It was among the crop of so-called eclectic, quirky actors who took to the recording studio for a stretch like Zooey Deschanel (She & Him) and Scarlett Johannson (remember her Tom Waits covers album and her record with Pete Yorn?) Gosling's Dead Man Bones, though, that errs on the side of concept album: it is soulful rock that is mostly, if not entirely, about death in some way. There's the confusingly sexy "My Body's a Zombie For You", "Werewolf Heart", "Lose Your Soul", and closing love song "Flowers Grow Out Of My Grave." The video for lead single "Name in Stone", which doesn't appear on the record, features Gosling and co. playing music in a graveyard somewhere in Los Angeles. There's even a baby in a skeleton onesie. Dead Man's Bones really took this bit to their dead hearts: when they toured this album in 2009, at their Toronto show, their opening act was a literal ghost magician. Gosling shares singing duties with Shields and takes to the piano or guitar, generally melting your spooky heart in the process.

Every Halloween needs a dancing skeleton (or more than one). Comedian Nathan Barnatt (previously at Neatorama) dances all over dressed as the bones of a dead man, accompanied by the 2009 song "Dead Man's Bones" by the group Dead Man's Bones. His lanky, creepy moves are just as you'd imagine a skeleton would dance -if that skeleton were a decent dancer! -via Buzzfeed

Several years after the adventure related above one Clemmer, a farmer, went to New Geneva to buy a coffin for a dead neighbor. It was in the winter. He had placed the coffin in a sled, and having been joined by another man, whose name I have forgotten, they drove through the Fallen Timbers, and approaching the spot where the apparition had disappeared from the view of Dougherty and Hare, they saw the same figure, dressed precisely as before, coatless and bare armed, standing up to the knees in snow beside the road. It did not speak or move, but the dreadful aspect of the man had the same effect upon Clemmer and his companion as upon Dougherty, and they whipped past him in terror. This was in the afternoon.

Conflict emerges between those who want the truth outed and those who want everything tidied away! McLean is caught in the middle, unearths things that perhaps should have been left buried. He receives surreptitious visits from the security services at his home address and is sent photos and other evidence by them but without further explanation.
