About the Workshop
The Workshop on Gravitation and Cosmology is proposed for M.Sc., Ph.D. students and researchers working in the field of General relativity and Cosmology who are passionate about exploring the profound implications of gravitational theory on the understanding of the universe. This workshop will be a unique forum for participants to engage in discussions, share groundbreaking research, and foster collaborations that push the boundaries of our knowledge in these fundamental areas of theoretical physics. Structured as a series of lectures, presentations, and interactive discussions, the workshop will cover a spectrum of topics, including the mathematical foundations of General Relativity, Modified Gravity, Gravitational Waves, Gravitational Collapse, Black Holes, Cosmological Models, and Data Analysis in techniques.

About Department
In the initial stage of the establishment of the department, it was named as Department of Mathematics and it came into existence in October 1958. It started with a modest and impressive beginning and has grown into a grand Department of Mathematics and Statistics. A renowned mathematician Padmashree Prof. R.S. Mishra was the first Professor of Mathematics who joined the Department whose academic endeavours led to the all-round development of the department. Prof. R.P. Agarwal, another eminent mathematician, succeeded Prof. Mishra in September 1963. Under the able guidance of Prof. R.S. Mishra and Prof. R.P. Agrawal, the Department of Mathematics developed into an important centre of Research’ in the fields of Theory of Relativity, Differential Geometry, Fluid Dynamics, Special Functions & Summability Theory. Statistics as a full-fledged and separate subject was introduced in the academic session 1970-71 at the Undergraduate level and the teaching of Statistics at the Post-Graduate level was started in the session 1982-83. As a consequence, the department was rechristened as the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in 1970. As a milestone, the department was awarded the status of Center of Excellence by the U.P. Government in 2019 for its excellent research and academic activities. The Department has an NBHM-funded Library for PG and Research students containing thousands of books and journals. The department has well-equipped 03 Computer Labs and has a perpetual version of MATLAB and MATHEMATICA Software.
About ICARD
IUCAA Centre for Astronomy Research and Development (ICARD) has been established at various Universities and Colleges in India. The primary functions of the ICARDs are the development of up-to-date course structures and new kinds of experiment/data analysis sessions which can be a part of a starting or existing Astronomy course in a University. These frequent workshops/schools/meetings at various levels at the host University/College and at nearby regions.
