Superman & Flash: Race Around the World
The race around the world is going to start from Metropolis and go to Central City, the long way (Around the world). Lex Luther, as the mayor of Metropolis is going to start the race off as an announcer. Cat Grant and Lois Lane are both there reporting as well as Iris West. Flash is there early and Superman is running late but then Clark has to go pee and Superman shows up.
Jimmy gets a good shot of the runners before the race starts and then the race begins with Superman taking off and the Flash being cocky and pretending like he didn’t hear them say start. Flash quickly catches up to Superman and antagonizes him about being faster and Superman says that he’s taking it easy on him then boosts forward even more.
Flash goes faster to catch up to Superman but all of a sudden turns around and finds himself somewhere that Superman isn’t even though he’s sure he went fast enough to catch him. They are now separated. Flash is in the middle of Africa and Superman gets turned towards Russia.
We know that secretly what happened was Mirror Master was able to reflect and trick the heroes into following different paths, which separated them into traps.
In Africa, Flash runs into a secret society of gorillas that are led by Gorilla Grodd. It’s obvious that these gorillas were enhanced. We know it has something to do with Lex Corp. Flash is joking around at first, but then Gorilla Grodd is able to capture him and have his apes tie him up.
Flash has his mind read by Grodd, and he sees that Lex Luther started the race and that’s his creator. Flash hopes that will get him out of it but it’s revealed that the smart gorillas hate Lex Luther for what they apparently did to him. Flash is able to vibrate his molecules and escape from his restraints, and then after a fight, he takes Grodd’s mind control apparatus and destroys it. He’s able to escape, and then Grodd and the other apes plan to find their creator and make him make a new telepathy device for Grodd. Later on, they realize that Grodd doesn’t even need the device anymore and it is now a part of his DNA to use telepathy.
In Russia, Superman is flying when he notices that it’s obviously too cold and snowy and he must’ve gone off the path somehow. He hears a faint grown from somebody below. Superman goes to investigate a Russian man who looks like he’s dying from the cold, but when he tries to help him, he notices he’s too weak. It’s revealed that the man is actually Metallo and he starts beating up the weakened Superman. Superman fights back as best he can but can only manage to get in a few swings. Eventually, Metallo has them on the ropes and is about to defeat him, because Superman cannot touch the kryptonite, but then Superman uses his last flicker of heat vision to cause an avalanche that buries Metallo. Superman gets away and regains his strength to then go find Barry and get back on the course.
Flash and Superman bump into each other, and are then surrounded by mirrors where Mirror Master explains his plan to make them run forever and never find their way home. Flash tries to punch Mirror Master, but his illusion form shatters into dust and Superman fires a laser at Mirror Master, but it reflects off and bounces around, hitting Superman himself. Flash and Superman decide to stick together and run around the world, getting lost even more.
Cat Grant is reporting that they did not appear at the checkpoint in India, but have been seen around the world and other spots because of the Mirror Master. but the public thinks that they are just prolonging the race to raise more money for charity and will finish later.
Eventually, they stopped to think of a plan. Superman comes up with the idea to fly high enough to where the mirrors would not matter anymore. The public was only informed about the route from the ground's perspective. Superman carries Flash and they fly back towards Central City.
While Superman is flying Barry to Central City, Clark remembers he should have a cover-up story for why he’s not with Lois and Jimmy anymore. Flash takes his phone and texts Lois that Clark has diarrhea and has to go home.
Flash and Superman are seen flying through the sky and Jimmy takes another picture. They land and then they decide to finish their marathon with a sprint and have one last charge toward the finish line when all of a sudden they are stopped by mirrors once more and imprisoned in another mirror box. To the public, it looks like they have just vanished. Superman, Flash, and Mirror Master talk again and Mirror Master says that they must spend the rest of their lives as running spectacles because of the selfish things they do like where these costumes for attention and have big battles in the street.
Out of outrage from not getting to see them finish, Bibbo throws his drink in the street, and it accidentally reveals a crack in the mirror box. Thanks to this, Barry realizes he can use his new ability to vibrate through molecules to get through the mirrors and break them from the outside. They crush Mirror Master’s technology and belt then have him escorted away and arrested.
It’s then they noticed that the race was never finished. They then argue over letting the other person finish first and then Lex demands that they have this real race finished so they can crown the fastest man alive. They actually do it. Superman flies up a little bit and doesn’t try that hard, but Barry zooms quickly past the finish line, and the Flash is the winner of the race around the world.
Superman and Flash then both quickly go away and disappear and Clark and Barry show up again. Clark says that he was watching the news and is still going to report on this being the sports reporter and all. Barry is there also to take Iris on a lovely date downtown.
It ends with Lex having a meeting with Metallo asking if the kryptonite sample worked and weakening Superman. Metallo reveals that it did work and Lex is now on the hunt for more and thinks he found some in a radioactive spot in Russia.
