Green Arrow: Missed Marks
Our story begins with a celebration welcoming back Oliver Queen after he was discovered at sea, surprisingly after the rest of his family was confirmed dead from a boat crash. Everyone else presumed that Oliver died at the same time. His story is that he survived on an island for two years before he built a raft that was able to get him found by the Coast Guard.
He promises that he will run his company and there are many important people at his welcome-back party, such as Bruce Wayne, and the mayor of Starr city, Mayor Stevens. The Mayor and Oliver talk about doing good things for the town.
The next morning, he wakes up in bed with a woman and Oliver turns on the TV to find that Cat Grant is reporting that Mayor Stevens committed suicide. Oliver finds that weird since they were just talking about plans they were having for the future.
Oliver then goes to a Board of Directors meeting for Queen Industries, but he is late and almost entirely misses the meeting. Oliver does not have full control of the company because the number of shares held by the board is greater than Oliver’s. The meeting was about the brand new mayor who took the place of Mayor Stevens, Mayor Banner. Mayor Banner is pushing for more trade deals with Markovia to happen between Queen Industries and his country of interest. People think it’s weird that Markovia is a shady country but all of a sudden this new mayor wants to do good deals with them.
The Board of Directors decline Mayor Banner’s offer to increase trade with Markovia. Banner leaves and Oliver agrees that they should have denied the trade deals, but they could’ve been nicer about it since that is the new mayor. Later we see the head of the board of directors working late, and he is surprised by Deadshot, who kills him but makes it look like another suicide.
Oliver sees that he is all of a sudden in control of Queen Industries properly after the Board of Directors supervisor was murdered, and he thinks that it’s definitely not a coincidence that two people allegedly killed themselves concerning Markovia.
To get to the bottom of this, he puts on a familiar green hood and wants to take vigilante justice into his own hands. He goes back to the apartment of the former mayor who killed himself and notices signs of a struggle and sees that it definitely was not suicide. Oliver then decides he’s going to break into Mayor Banner's house and interrogate him since he has obvious ties to the Markovia shenanigans.
Green Arrow breaks in and has an arrow to Mayor Banner's chest but then a warning shot grazes Green Arrow's arm and Deadshot walks out. The Markovian government hired Deadshot to help them make these strategic assassinations.
Green Arrow and Deadshot get into a shootout, but then Green Arrow manages to escape.
Green Arrow tries to figure out who the next target would be so he can outsmart Deadshot and take him out before he can shoot another innocent person. He figures that since Markovia is a shady government body it would also want to take control of the underground world, as well as political and financial. Because of this, he goes to investigate the Italian mob boss known as the Chef. Green Arrow tells Chef that he is suspected to be in danger and is going to use him as bait before being down himself. Joe Henchey was also there and working for the chef. Green Arrow gets a high vantage point and figures out where the best kill angle would be to kill the Chef through a window. He then takes a vantage point that would be the best to kill a guy who is in the window shooting position.
Deadshot then shows up at the kill angle and Green Arrow is able to disarm him and get into a shootout with Deadshot before he can kill the Chef. Green Arrow has the advantage of Deadshot because he has the high ground and is taking out all of the hiding spots that Deadshot has in his location. Deadshot also has all of his ammunition strategically destroyed by Green Arrow. Green Arrow is about to take a final shot to take out Deadshot, when all of a sudden he gets very nauseous and falls off the building. Deadshot uses this opportunity to escape since he’s not getting paid anymore.
On the ground, we see Count Vertigo of Markovia step forward, and it’s revealed that he was behind all of these strategic assassinations to give him even more power. Count Vertigo approaches the Chef and says he doesn’t like to get his hands dirty and orders Joe Henchey to take a final killing shot towards the crime boss. Henchy was an inside man for Count Vertigo all along. Henchy tipped the Count off that Green Arrow would be there to foil the assassination. Green Arrow then manages to pull himself together and shoots off Vertigo’s nausea device, as well as disarming Joe Henchey. He then gets into a fist fight and defeats Vertigo, without his device, and Joe Henchey.
The bad guys get taken to jail but Vertigo gets off with diplomatic immunity. Count Vertigo is now never legally allowed to leave Markovia again. Joe Henchy is sent to Blackgate prison. Cat Grant is reporting on the news that the city has a brand new hero, known as Green Arrow.
Later on, we see Green Arrow patrolling the rooftops, and Batman shows up saying that he likes the work that he just did and slightly implies that he knows that Green Arrow is Oliver Queen.
