Green Arrow: Cupid’s Target
Green Arrow was patrolling Star City, thwarting a low-level villain named Javelin when suddenly shots rang out from an unseen assailant. Despite Oliver's agile evasion, the villain was fatally hit. Oliver tried desperately to save them, but it was too late. When the authorities arrived, suspicion fell on Oliver, forcing him to flee the scene.
Later, Oliver returned to investigate, determined to find clues about the mysterious assailant. His instincts told him this wasn't just another random attack—it was a calculated threat. Agent Rick Flagg from Argus appeared, investigating the incident. Initially wary of Flagg, Oliver was surprised when Flagg acknowledged his skills and intentions. Flagg knows that Green Arrow did not kill Javelin. Argus is currently investigating a threat in the region.
Their meeting was interrupted by Cupid, who attacked them again. Oliver pursues Cupid, but her adept maneuvering gives her the upper hand while jumping from rooftop to rooftop, all the while flirting with Oliver in her vilanus way. As Green Arrow takes a bold jump, Cupid shoots a down the fire escape, causing Green Arrow to fall. Just when Cupid has Green Arrow cornered and ready for the execution, Cupid is struck in the back by a powerful canary cry. Black Canary then begins brutally attacking Cupid. It was so intense that Oliver had to step in to stop Canary's relentless assault, giving Cupid an opportunity to flee.
Canary says that she has been after the League of Shadows for what they have taken from her. Oliver then says it makes sense that Cupid would be League of Shadows and reveals that he was a defector from the group. Despite their earlier conflict, Oliver and Canary joined forces after Oliver listened to Canary’s story and understood her motivations. They conducted their investigation from Wildcat's gym, forming a bond as they worked to unravel Cupid's role in the vendetta against Green Arrow for his defection from the League of Shadows. Canary expressed her personal vendetta against the League due to what happened to the man who practically raised her after her mother died, Wildcat, Ted Grant.
They devised a risky plan to use Arrow as bait, leveraging his past successes. Canary was reluctant, fearing for Oliver's safety, but agreed to watch his back closely during the operation. Oliver baited Cupid in the open, but their plan seemed to falter until he heard Canary's cry abruptly stop. Rushing to the scene, Oliver found Cupid holding Canary at gunpoint, threatening them both. In a quick and decisive move, Oliver pretended to surrender but instead shot Cupid through the heart, ending the threat. Canary could not believe what happened but then kisses Oliver. Oliver is not proud of the homicide he just committed.
Agent Flagg arrived on the scene, aware of what had transpired. Instead of condemning Green Arrow, Flagg acknowledged his actions as necessary and agreed to cover up the incident. Flagg then told them to leave as he will take care of the mess. Canary, relieved and grateful, proposes to stay with Arrow and they plan to dismantle the League of Shadows together. Green Arrow agrees and they are a couple now.
In a final twist, Agent Flagg reported Oliver as a potential candidate for Task Force X to Amanda Waller, recognizing his capability to do what was needed, even when morally complex. Waller is pleased to hear this.
