Flash: Power Trip
It is a bright and sunny morning in Central City. Barry and Iris on the way to get breakfast together at the coffee shop close by. On the way, Barry passes by a television in a nearby store. He sees some breaking news involving Captain Boomerang sticking up the Casino in the city. Barry makes up some excuse about forgetting his wallet and the Flash is on his way to the scene.
Heatwave, a police-sanctioned hero, is already there battling Captain Boomerang. However, he doesn’t seem to be very competent with his heat gun. The Flash is able to make quick work of Captain Boomerang and turns him into the police. Heatwave is angry at Flash for stepping in because he would have had Captain Boomerang in cuffs in no time! Meanwhile, Flash finds Iris to continue his date. He apologizes that it took him so long to find his wallet. Iris then reveals that it’s pointless to lie because she knows he is the Flash. She is a good reporter and Barry is a terrible liar. She promises to keep his secret. Barry then realizes suddenly that he’s late for work! Again! He tells Iris he’s gotta run.
At the Central City Police Station, the department is discussing the heatwave unit. It is not as effective as anticipated. They need it to start performing better in order to justify the funding. Heatwave explains that he needs better tech. Caitlin Snow is frustrated with the amount of work she’s put in making the heat gun. She’s not gonna make a new weapon for every criminal. Still, Captain West insists that Heatwave needs to do better. Barry asks why they need a hero when they have the Flash. Captain West responds that the Flash doesn’t work for them. The meeting comes to a close. It leaves an unsatisfied and angry Heatwave who’s ready to take matters into his own hands.
Heatwave sneaks into the jail that is holding Boomerang. He weakens the concrete outside of his cell with his heat gun. Boomerang is confused, but goes along with the jailbreak. Then, sees Heatwave turn his gun towards him and attack! Heatwave staged this jailbreak so that he could stop Boomerang and get the credit. A jailer saw the commotion of a fight between Boomerang and Heatwave and called for back-up. Flash hears the call to help get Boomerang back behind bars. However, this is the last straw for Heatwave. He starts to attack Flash. The ruckus between Boomerang and Heatwave causes an instability in some infrastructure which falls on the Flash. Flash phases out of it and manages to capture Boomerang. However, Heatwave manages to get away.
Flash forward to another police department meeting. They decide that they need to do something about the ‘cop turned bad.’ It’s bad PR for the department. They are sure to lose their funding in a major way if they don’t act fast. Captain West suggests a creation of a new anti-Heatwave division based on the cold gun! Captain West orders Caitlyn Snow to figure it out. Caitlyn and Barry are against this idea, but West demands it.
Snow is working on disassembling the cold gun in order to learn more about its power source. Barry walks into the lab to check on her because he thinks it’s a bad idea. However, disassembling the cold gun made the power core unstable. She tells Barry to run because it is about to blow! Barry tries to save her but he can't get close. An explosion occurs mixed with the lab chemicals and cold gun power core. This onbiously affected Caitlyn in an interesting way.
Barry wakes Snow up from the explosion, she seems unhurt, but now she’s blue. Barry tries to help her, but she accidently turns him into a popsicle. Two police officers rush to the lab to investigate, and she freezes them too. The chemicals in the explosion gave her powers but also messed up her mind. She feels cold, powerful, and vengeful. She has turned into Killer Frost. The police department is gonna pay for subjecting her to this.
Killer Frost continues her rampage at the police department. She finally confronts Captain West. He is responsible for her drastic change in appearance. Captain West thinks it’s great! They finally have a Meta-human working for the police department. Killer Frost does not support the decisions the department has made and doesn’t feel respected for all the work she had done for them. She freezes West and runs off to handle crime in her own way.
Killer Frost decides to find Heatwave. She looks at his officer file and tracks down his location. Eventually, she runs into him at his mother’s house. She says that she respects him and the way he handles crime. She wants them to work together to stop crime in Central City without the stupid decisions the police make. Heatwave is flattered. He agrees to join on one condition… they kill the Flash. However, Frost disagrees. She doesn't want to kill the Flash because he is like them, a part of the real solution to solving crime and taking it out at the source. Heatwave says that if she’s not with him then she’s against him and attacks Frost.
The Flash shows up and tries to get them to see reason and stop them both from fighting. The Flash gets caught in the crossfire. He realizes that he has to take matters into his own hands. Barry creates a tornado around Heatwave which takes all of the oxygen from the air and causes the heat gun to malfunction. Barry manages to disarm Heatwave. He then takes down Frost. They both go to jail.
Flash returns to the police station and scolds Captain West for trying to create Meta-humans. Power corrupts. The Flash didn’t ask for the powers. No one has any business meddling with the powers of fate. Meta humans are not always the answer and it is good to give people rightful credit.
Post credit scene in jail we see Killer Frost approached by a mysterious figure and asked if she still thinks that she can do some good. It is Amanda Waller. Boomerang desperately yells that he would love to get out of jail to help America too.
