Constantine: Order and Chaos
Constantine came out of a bar and was stumbling more than usual. He fell down and was horrible with his balance, and then started having visions of both Dr. Fate and Klarion being tortured. He didn’t know what this meant so he called Nightmare Nurse to help him.
Nightmare Nurse diagnosed him as being a rarely powerful individual who can sense an imbalance in the universe as far as chaos in order goes. She gives Constantine a magic walking cane of order to help him with his stumbling while he tries to figure this out on his own.
Constantine then goes to the Tower of Fate and tries to get in, but the tower is reluctant. Eventually, the Tower lets him in but he is dropped into a snake pit of temptations where three snakes are trying to get him to succumb to his vices. One snake wants to give him alcohol and cigars, one snake wants to give him beautiful women, and one snake wants him to be respected as a hero and force for good. He ends up rejecting them all and this causes him to be able to speak to Enza, the wife of Dr. Fate.
Enza shows Constantine where Kent Nelson, a.k.a. Dr. Fate was last seen, and Constantine was able to deduce that it was chaos magic that sucked him away. Constantine then lights a portal in the fireplace to try to follow Dr. Fate to wherever he went. He’s able to do this and goes into a realm where he finds Klarion and Dr. Fate in chains. Dr. Fate is mad that Constantine is there because he was sending his astral projection to find help, but was hoping for someone more like Jason Blood instead of Constantine.
He talks to them and figures out that it was neither of them who got themselves into the situation, and then the mysterious new villain Equinox shows up. Equinox has them restrained in a perfect and potent balance of chaos and order for each respected lord. You can tell that Equinox has worked very hard to get to where is today, in terms of power. His big plan is finally paying off.
Constantine tries to do something, but Equinox immediately snaps him back to reality. Constantine is at the Tower of Fate again and tells Enza what happened. They then call Nightmare Nurse back and they help to use magical medications to get his chaos and order perfectly balanced, like Equinox has. It’s very hard for any human to have perfectly balanced chaos and order, especially Constantine. They managed to make Constantine sober and also get him balanced order and chaos. It was quite a struggle.
Equinox is explaining to the two lords of order and chaos that his main goal is to get rid of the high points of order and high points of chaos that alternate throughout history, and just have a linear progression of chaos and order. He thinks this will suit the universe, much better because it will be a true balance the entire time, instead of trading off back-and-forth constantly. Equinox is trying his best to absorb all of the power from Klarion and Dr. Fate when Constantine shows back up again.
Equinox’s magic is not very effective on Constantine anymore, since he is also perfectly balanced like Equinox is. This results in Constantine having to have a fistfight with Equinox. The problem is that Equinox is a much better fighter and is kicking Constantine’s butt.
While the two perfectly balanced people are fighting, Dr. Fate comes up with an idea to take off his helmet and give it to Klarion, that way there can be a more powerful person who is perfectly balanced and can put an end to the scuffle of the mortals. Having a perfectly balanced God is much more powerful than a mortal doing the same thing.
Fate takes off his helmet and forces Klarion to wear it, which makes Klarion a very powerful balanced entity of order and chaos. It is a lot of discomfort for Klarion to have the helmet on so he immediately puts an end to Equinox and drains him of his power then Constantine kicks the snot out of him.
Klarion then throws the helmet back at Kent Nelson in disgust. Constantine and Kent Nelson, then use their combined magic to banish Klarion out of the realm. Kent then leaves Constantine and goes to see Enzo while he is in mortal form and Constantine finds himself stuck in the realm, but we know he will get out.
Lastly, we see Klarion still being worked up over how Dr. Fate got the better of him with the help of a mortal, and then Klarion says he needs to find a mortal of his own who can help him as well.
