Dr. Dimitrios Charamis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of West Attica. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and Auditing from the University of Patras, where his doctoral thesis examined the implementation and auditing of International Accounting Standards (I.A.S.) in the context of the European Standardization and the correlation with the U.S. G.A.A.P.. He also earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Business Economics, Finance and Banking, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Economics from the University of Portsmouth.
He is an active contributor to the scientific community, with recent publications in international peer-reviewed journals and his primary research interests encompass:
Accounting and Auditing.
Accounting Information Systems (AIS).
Internal Audit & Corporate Governance.
At the University of West Attica, teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses focused on "Auditing", "Accounting Information Systems," and "Applied Accounting through IT Systems". He is dedicated to fostering student development, currently supervising Ph.D. dissertations and Master’s theses. He is a co-founder of the University’s "Accounting & Finance Research Club" (AFRC), an initiative established to support undergraduate students with a keen interest in the field.

Dimitrios combines academic rigor with over 17 years of high-level professional experience. Prior to his current academic tenure, he primarily worked in multinational auditing firms as a team leader for conducting audit and consulting projects for groups and large-scale companies across major economic sectors in Greece and abroad. Throughout his professional career, he has organized and taught various training seminars for business executives, primarily focusing on the evaluation of Internal Controls Systems (ICS), the organisation and operation of the Internal Audit function and accounting and finance operations through Accounting Information Systems (AIS) and ERPs.
