Ireland

For the continent of Europe, we are going to explore Ireland!

Lets begin with our own county of Galway and some local sites.

Follow the map as we explore some very historical and interesting places.

Aughrim is very close by and very easy to visit!

Download the app and follow the trail with your family.

We read Under the Hawthorn Tree and we had planned to visit Portumna Workhouse. For now, browse the site and watch some of the videos.

As we are touring virtually, distance is no object so let's tour some interesting sites in the rest of Ireland!

The next book after Under the Hawthorn Tree is Wildflower Girl. It follows Peggy as she travels to America to begin a new life. She travelled by sea. These ships were often called Famine Ships.

Lets go to Dunbrody Co. Wexford to visit a famine ship.

That's a lot of sad History so let's cheer ourselves up by going from the bottom of Ireland to the very top and visiting the Giants Causeway. I don't know if visiting it in real life could be much better than this excellent virtual site.

Make sure you turn on the sound so you can hear the waves crashing!

Of course no tour of Ireland is complete without visiting our President! Have a walk through Michael D's house Áras an Uachtaráin and if you're lucky you might even see the dogs!

If you would like to see more of Ireland from your couch, click on this link to visit more sites virtually!

Enjoy!
