What is foreground and what is background?

This work arose from a visit to a bluebell wood. Whilst everyone usually focuses on the clouds of dainty flowers, this time I noticed the blade-like leaves which actually predominate the scene if you take a photograph. I wanted to make those leaves the central detail of the work.
