I am a Professor in the Department of Economics at Virginia Commonwealth University.

My research has been multi-disciplinary and I have enjoyed long-standing collaborations with researchers from nursing, medicine, health services & health policy research, and accounting.

Reflecting this multi-disciplinary emphasis, I teach two econometrics courses at VCU that are part of the required coursework for Ph.D. students in the programs in Health Services Research and Organization, Healthcare Policy and Research, Accounting, and Management (along with occasional Ph.D. students in other programs).

I have been the lead econometrician and methodologist in many research projects on quality of healthcare and financial performance. These include R01 HS10153 and two competitive continuations (1999-2011, Dr. Barbara Mark PI) and R01 DA942367 (2014-2018, Dr. Askar Chukmaitov PI).
