PetronixConsoleOS 5.0 Beta 3, after a fairly long time, is finally here! So, what's new?
New Features:
PetronixConsoleOS Store
That's right! PetronixConsoleOS 5.0 now has a store! Now, if you have been in my Discord server, you likely have seen screenshots of the PCOSStore. One thing to note is that, while the buttons work and you can look around a bit, you won't find much. However, later on in future builds, you will be able to buy some things using Colecto-Points (more about them below). Overall, it's a great feature i'm working on, and i'm pretty sure that this will be beloved by many of you who have used PetronixConsoleOS before.
Colecto-Points and "Collectibles"
Colecto-Points (or "CPs" for short) are also another feature i'm working on, and while they already are in a kinda usable state, there are still a few things needed to be done to prevent users from "printing" CPs, as it may be unfair, be seen as cheating and make CPs progressively less valuable. So, how do you get CPs? Well, from finding "Collectibles" (shown in this pic next to this text), which give either 20, 50 or 100 CPs respectively. The "Collectibles" can appear randomly at any spot. Or you can go ahead and try to find hidden secrets/easter eggs and get awarded with around 50 to 200 CPs. A bit more information about CPs in the PetronixConsoleOS Store (PCOSStore) in the "What Are And How Do I Get Colecto-Points?" page.
Fun Fact: Colecto-Points (CPs) became an idea inspired by the You Thought Points (YTPs) in Baldi's Basics Plus.
Changes In The GUI (Graphical User Interface):
New Recycle Bin icon!
PCOSXplorer now has the old icon used in PetronixConsoleOS 2.0 and 3.0 and is positioned next to the Start Button on the TaskBar! The PCOSXplorer default site has been changed from that old DavidPetronix Scratch Profile page to the new home page of DavidPetronix's Website Of Goods.
The Start Menu is now shorter and has the "PetronixConsoleOS 5.0" text. As development continues, the Start Menu will get larger bit by bit as more stuff gets implemented. But for now, it's as short as it is so it doesn't unnecessarily take up more than half the screen. Another thing to mention is that the Start Menu animation is now smooth and the elements don't just show and hide all the time.
The Quick Menu now has sounds playing when you click on one of the options and when you're selecting one of the options!
The default wallpaper has been renamed from "Five-o! Light" or "5.0! Light" to "Harmony".
The Close Button has been slightly redesigned.
The first pic shows the Close Button at idle. The second pic shows the Close Button when a mouse cursor hovers over it.
The Bubble costume that's used for the default "Bubbles" screensaver has been slightly redesigned.
There's barely a difference. You might not even believe that it was changed.
Bug Fixes:
1. In the "Bubbles" screensaver, there was a bug where if you started the screensaver and then immediately stopped it that bubbles still came out. This has been fixed.
That's all of the changes! Man, that's one heck of an update, huh? Anyways, here's the download! Don't wanna keep you waiting...
