Watch and learn how James Scholes goes about setting up a profitable blog in 5 simple steps
This process involves you to take 5 simple steps.
Step 1: Choose your market
You should always go for a market where you can solve a big problem. And look out for something that you are either passionate or knowledgeable about.
Step 2: Set up your blog
You have to 2 choices here, you can create a free blog with Wix.com or Blogger.com for example, or you could go for a paid blog where you have to buy a domain name and hosting. I definitely recommend that you choose the paid option because the free platforms can close your account for whatever reason and you'll lose your whole business overnight.
Step 3: Monetize your blog
Do not go for adverts and banners because most people never buy the first time they see your offer. People need to be marketed to and be taught stuff for free, so they start to trust you and see you as an authority in your market. Another disadvantage of banner advertising is that nowadays most internet users have ad blockers installed. The best way to monetize your blog is by collecting email leads so you can promote your offers through email marketing.
Step 4: Create content
The best and most engaging content for your blog are free tutorials and "How To" guides. Creating big news items related to your market is another good way to keep your readers interested in your content. Another method that is very effective are lists like top 5 or top 10 lists foe example. Last but not least is writing product reviews and monetize your blog via affiliate links to the sales page of the product you are reviewing.
Step 5: Getting traffic to your blog
The first thing you want to do here is create a brand name, preferable the name of your blog. Second join as many social media platforms as you can. Now every time that you write a new blog post you want to share that post on all the social media platforms. By sharing all your content under your brand name people interested in your market, will eventually start to recognize you and will automatically start searching for your brand.
