Dave's Faves 1992

1. Good Time – Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers / Jahmekya

"Though the world is cruel and blind, Let's have a good time." Number one the entire year.

2. Wake Up Dolores – Los Lobos / Kiko

I saw these guys again at First Avenue - they're great!

3. Last Chance – John Mellencamp / Whenever We Wanted

A pretty good CD, not as good as Lonesome Jubilee, but there are some tasty tunes.

4. Tutti Frutti – Little Richard / Rhino Records 18 Greatest Hits

An old hit from that children's pop star ("Itsy Bitsy Spider"). This CD is the essential Little Richard.

5. Love Me Like a Man – Bonnie Raitt / The Bonnie Raitt Collection

My favorite Bonnie song, on a very good collection.

6. Early in the Morning – Buddy Guy / Damn Right, I've Got the Blues

7. Peace – Los Lobos / Kiko

You can never have too much Los Lobos.

8. Angel Negro – Santana / Viva Santana!

An older tune of theirs off of another excellent collection.

9. Ran Kan Kan – Tito Puente / The Mambo Kings Soundtrack

I know, it's a little weird, but this movie had great music, and this is a hot one off of the soundtrack.

10. Cool Jerk – The Capitols / Atlantic Rhythm and Blues Vol. 5 1962-1966

This CD, and volume 6 (1966-1969) have some of the best R&B hits of the 60's, including Aretha, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Sam & Dave. Highly recommended.

11. Feeling Good – The Fabulous Thunderbirds / Walk That Walk, Talk That Talk

Without Jimmie Vaughan (Stevie Ray's brother), but still a fun party band.

12. Kosmik – Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers / Jahmekya

This is one of the best songs on one of the best CDs this year. Buy it.

13. Twist of the Knife – The Fabulous Thunderbirds / Walk That Walk, Talk That Talk

A great riff to get your feet moving.

14. Empty Arms – Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble / The Sky is Crying

This is from a collection of old recordings left behind after Stevie died, and put together by his brother Jimmie. Pretty tasty.

15. Love and Happiness – John Mellencamp / Whenever We Wanted

It ain't great art, but I like it.

16. Dream in Blue – Los Lobos / Kiko

I will require proof of purchase for any Los Lobos recording or concert to receive Dave's Fave 93.

17. Layla – Eric Clapton / Unplugged

This is a very good CD. You get to listen to raw and simple Clapton, with no production to hide his guitar work.

18. Galileo – Indigo Girls / Rites of Passage

I bought an earlier CD of theirs (Strange Fire) on critic's recommendation (always a risky proposition), and was very pleased. This new CD is better than that one.

19. Teasin' You – Willie Tee / Atlantic Rhythm and Blues Vol. 5 1962-1966

I had never heard of Wille Tee, or this song before, but it's my favorite in this collection.

20. 6060-842 – The B-52's / The B-52's

I put 'Good Thing', their latest hit in here, but I decided that the song was weak, and the CD sucked, so I grabbed one of my all time favorite tunes from their first, best album.

21. Day to Day Thing – The Neville Brothers / Family Groove

This just in! I just got this while I was making this tape, and had to bump some other stuff to make room. They also have a great cover of Steve Miller's 'Fly Like an Eagle'.

22. Treat Her Right – The Commitments / The Commitments Soundtrack

This is a fun tune from a fun movie. Both the soundtrack and the movie are highly recommended, you tossers.

23. Jah is True and Perfect – Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers / Jahmekya

What can I say, I got religion from Ziggy.

24. On the Other Side of Paradise – The Neville Brothers / Family Groove

This is a nice tape-ender. It takes me down to the Caribbean.
