I'm an amateur photographer in the Leigh, Wigan area.
I have always had an interest in photography but its only in the last few years that I developed a strong desire to create better, more appealing images.
I have been studying photography at evening classes at Hindley High School, Wigan under tutor Rob Maclese and this tution has helped me understand the techniques to capturing great images.
I'm currently looking to broaden my skills into portrait and group photography and therefore looking for willing individuals and groups that would be happy for me to photograph them in return for a copy of the images. If your interested then contact me via my facebook page "Dave Blackburn Photography".
These images are from my evening class project for spring 2015.
The subject for the project was industry.
Good vision and optical healthcare is important to all of us not just photographers. But going for regular eye tests often makes us shudder for we know our prescription will have changed and bring with it a new pair of glasses often costing well over a hundred pounds or more.
I know this fact because we feel the same. Last year I took the opportunity of being on Job seekers allowance for a short time to have a free eye test.
I needed glasses for office work and distance. I got some help with the purchase of one pair of glasses but the cost was still eye watering.
Just recently my wife had the same experience but rather than get glasses from the high street vision specialist we choose a new way of buying glasses. On line.
We choose a supplier called glasses2you ltd. Not only did the company offer a wide range of frames for every budget but offered a really good returns policy.
My wife choose a pair of glasses and uploaded her prescription to the website for a total cost fo £29 plus £3.95 P&P.
The glasses arrived back within a week which was far quicker than the pair I ordered from the high street supplier. Whats more they were perfect first time.
We both went onto order our distant vision pairs. I had put mine off due to the expense but buying from glasses2you cost around £70 for two pairs. Again both came back within a week and right first time. Well mine were wrong but it wasn't glasses2you who were to blame, more so the high street vision specialist who failed to act on the fact I told him I do photography and use a satnav when driving but none the less galsses2you are putting things right even though its not their fault.
If you have never tried ordering glasses on line before I highly recommend you give glasses2you a go. It will save the pain of having a regular eye test as it will save you a lot of money.
We all strive to take the best image in camera but now again we look at the images on screen and their not perfect or that a little flat.
Take these two images of the Hotel Marti La Perla in icmeler, Turkey.
The original seems rather flat but after cropping in a little and using adobe photoshop to enhance the color and exposure, the image becomes a lively colorful image that would look right at home in a holiday brochure.
This image was taken on a very over cast day and the light was very poor. But again using the levels adjustment tool in adobe photoshop brought new life to the image.
There is a lot of buzz around at the moment aimed at getting mobile phone users to upgrade to a smart new shiny Samsung S7. But take a look at some images that I took on a cheaper Lenovo P2 smart phone.
